Haha, actually the German coach in the red jacket is from Denmark. I think they are a little paranoid if they think everyone can lipread -sen
A complete mockery to the tournament with the walkout. Just checked the MS draw again. Rank 1,3,5,7 (LCW, PG, TH, NTM) in the upper pool. Rank 2,4,6,8 (LD, CJ, CL, DP) in the lower pool. 1 to 8 when lined up seems a fair ranking to me. Actually, come to think of it, it is LYB and management who just mock their own country with the show of unsportmanship. Any China win in future will be seen in diluted form.
Can't help but think, if Peter were 5 yrs younger with his skills and experience today, will he give Super Dan and Datuk Lee a better fight, occasionally winning? For ordinary badminton players like us, it would be hard, I'm only speaking for myself,to play like Lin Dan or Lee CW, but Peter Gade would be a good role model, not only for his skills but also for his self-discipline, diligence, steadfastness, dedication and mental strength. He will make an excellent coach after his retirement, no doubt about that.
The 5-year younger PG had won and lost what he deserved, and had the opponents' of his time. 5-year younger PG could not had today's experience and maturity. There would not have someone so perfect to have all advantages of his different ages... What if LD still have the explosiveness of his OG08, what if TH still have the invincible tricks of his prime-time... then I don't think the 5-year younger PG may still not able to withstand them...
My point is Peter is already 34 but look at Sho Sasaki who raise his game last year when he was 28, the age that Lin Dan is now and he is declining. Peter has been around for 15 yrs, so if he were 29 like Sho Sasaki now, it might be possible to improve further coupled with better stamina and fitness to challenge LD and Lee better. I know his time is over now or useless to talk about what has been, which is exactly your point, but I'm interested in pondering what could have been, a sort of counterfactual argument i.e. expressing what has not happened but could, would, or might under differing conditions.
First of all, they already know therefore no need to wake up. It's just that they don't know what to do to rectify the situation or just keep eyes closed because they know they need china in more ways that one.
@Jonc108, I think you tried to say that the younger PG may still not be able to withstand the younger opponents (LD, TH) either Well, back to the original IF statement, IF PG being 5-year younger but having all the advantages of his today's accumulated experiences & maturity WHILE all his main opponents remain the same as today, YES, PG will have much better competitive chances against them! It's something equivalent to install a turbo engine on PG
Common, if you know your workers under you in working against your order of your management you leave it alone countless times and do nothing about it? why? If you are an organizer of a beauty pageant and a contestant has flouted the pageant rules and you do nothing about it. why? common sense. it is when you can do without them then you have the guts to do something about it.
