Sure I know how important is CNG. We are professional in our profession and we don't just not to turn up to meeting that we already schedule months ago. They should be the same in their profession, don't sign up the tournament if you know that you can't make it. Pretentious is consider a fraud in many instances. We shouldn't make an excuse for them, otherwise they will never learn to grow up and in real professional world. If we want Badminton to be professional, it start from us to make the change. Not BWF or Any associations, voice our constructive criticism.
Please don't condone WO. From your sentence, sounds like is fine to WO if you don't have fair chance to win and is ok to WO to your team mate but not foreigner. Justin, we need to educate them to change for the better for badminton as a whole. Our enemy is not individual country but sport like tennis, golf etc.
The players have no say, why do they have to bear the brunt of the blame ? The players' role is to train well, play their best badminton and help to promote badminton by taking part in those publicity campaigns and commercial activities arranged for them, but to leave all administrative, fundraising, planning and scheduling, developmental and organizational matters to their respective associations, tournament organizers and the BWF to work together.
I'm afraid you've misconstrued my meaning. I've pointed out this is a special case with their underlying causes which aren't the players' faults. Glad that you say walkovers is not a country-specific problem but that's another issue I don't wish to go into here. And comparing badminton with other sports like tennis, golf, etc, is another matter altogether which I didn't touch on either, such as ,for example, the huge prize moneys offered, the independence of the professional players, the role and impact of commercialism in sport, not to mention the nature of the various sports itself ,eg, which is more strenuous, physically demanding, the energy burn-rate, and so on and so forth.
Xue Song disappoints. He wasn't that stretched at the CNG being involved only in the team event over the first 5 days. Tian Houwei maybe is more understandable though I can't hide my disappointment too. Tomorrow, I've not much confidence DuPY or Chen Yuekun can perform better owing to their heavy involvement in the CNG.
Besides, don't we know for a fact that after a big event, such as WC or Olympics or , in this case, the CNG for the CHN Players, every player would naturally want to unwind himself/herself? Instead , we find those CHN players affected being forced to jump straight in to another strong event, a superseries at that, followed by another almost immediately. We can blame CBA, the CNG committee, the tournament (CM) organizer, and the BWF for not preventing or for mishandling the clash in scheduling but I strongly feel we should have empathy for the players concerned and spare a thought for them. What about the many well-rested or uninjured foreign players who chose to skip this tournament?
Yup, all three are there except Yonex but where are the "big" players? Adidas & Victor have the advertising boards while Li Ning was at the court surface.
To clarify myself further, let me add that I've always believed that world class professional players who train 7-8 hours six days a week should be able to handle even 5 consecutive days of 1 to 1.5 hr of tough matches although training and competition make different demands. But, clearly, this 11-day CNG followed by the 5-6 day CM is a special, unusual, abnormal, exceptional case; hence it deserves our sympathetic understanding for the players concerned, that's all.
The absence, or whatever you might want to call it, of two-time reigning champion Chen Long makes the MS very interesting indeed... Hoping Tago wins his first Super Series, if things go as I think they will the biggest test will come in the Semis with Shon Wan Ho.
How interesting! Was Lining only on the court surface? If Lining had dropped out, I imagine the court still needs to be used for games and Adidas doesn't make badminton courts. But the fact that Victor was present is puzzling indeed.
yeah, with the expense of ticket holder? now u know why this is the last edition? even worst than india SS after adidas saw this kind of a: oh!almost the whole world is not coming b: oh! the XXX is more important than even a WC,so no need to bother about this SS conclusion: we will never sponsor badminton tournament again, anyhow,we understand why badminton will never make it as big as tennis
The financial model could be different. Naming rights to the competition doesn't give exclusivity of the brand. Exclusive brand exposure for equipment may need another extra amount of money. I guess we will never really know.

Adidas is using this last and final edition of the CHN Masters as a springboard to the China market for many sports apparel and equipment, not just for badminton. Adidas must have done their homework before going in, I'm sure they are fully aware of what the CHN Masters sponsorship can do for them.
WD Cheng Shu/Zhao Yunlei had to withdraw because of Cheng Shu's injury incurred yesterday at the CNG WD final where she twisted her leg and injuring her knee.
On Thurs R2, both DuPY and Chen Yuekun have to play two matches each should they beat their respective R1 opponents, Sakai and Ajay, followed by Guo Kai and Momota respectively.
