Trying out both GT5 and LiNing #1 at 25x27 lbs for the past week, this is my brief summary of them compared to 62F. Surprisingly they all initially pinged at exactly the same frequency 1275 Hz, even though 62F is more like 0.66mm! Repulsion: LN#1 > 62F > GT5 Control: GT5 > 62F > LN#1 Hard feel: LN#1 > GT5 > 62F Only question remaining is tension retention and durability. So 62F still seems like a good balanced compromise. Hmmm, maybe I'll also pick up a reel of clearance 62 from Stringer's World...

A bit off topic, but where does it say there is free shipping? Because if so that is a decent price. Edit: nvm realized it's 33ish british pounds plus 6 british pounds for shipping. Thanks for the tip, picking one up!
want something new to try, how's the repulsion of the GT 5 compare to BG 80? Just went back to BG 80 after my reel with 62F is getting low.
GT5 is not quite as repulsive as ZM62F. Definitely not as hard as BG80, but it's on the harder end of medium feel.
I am going to try the GT5 this or next week and seriously thinking about 30lb, I am playing with 27-28 now, how long does it last with 30?
This string is really growing on me after a solid 2 hr session with it on the Epsilon. Most noticeable trait is the control from the rough textured surface. Grips and cuts the shuttle with ease during pushes, blocks, slices. Better than VS850, ZM62, LN#1. Same with crisp touch and feel. Very tactile string. You'll know intimately what's happening between the stringbed and the shuttle at all times. Better than those 3 strings above. Repulsion, I'm still undecided between this and LN#1. Tension retention is excellent so far. Dang, with so many excellent strings and rackets it's so hard to choose one. Glad I'm already married.
@visor, have you tried R4X110? Atm I really like that string. Control and repulsion are really good with R4X110.
@visor Tonight, I had before me the formidable task of choosing one of two Gosen strings (just arrived from MBS) to replace Z62 in my favorite racket. The R4X110 has been talked about a lot. But your post has convinced me to try G-Tone first.Thanks. (It's just like Xmas in Fidget's mancave ... so many lovely packages to open! )
Do it! It's like a thinner version of VS850 with all the control and crispness and even more power. And most importantly, without the poor tension retention. But having said that, hope I haven't raised your expectations too high.
I do agree with all the positive feedback here.. I have been using g tone 5 for the 3rd time.... I prefer this over ultimax is because the tension retention is way better... Gosen release the g tone series 4 years after the R series, there must be something really good inside after 4 years of R&D isn't it?
I need to revise this. I've been using ZM62F on a BS12 and GT5 on the Type X 2.0 and JS10. I've only recently gotten the Type X 2.0 and JS10, and they're stiffer than the BS12 by a lot. So I've been revising my technique to get more flex out of the new rackets when I smash. And I'm getting much better results now, I think I can hit harder with GT5 than with the ZM62F. I'll have to put GT5 on a BS12 to be able to directly compare ZM62F to GT5. I will try it this week.
Visor, maybe I did not phrase it properly. I was saying from the R4 series to g tone, is a 4 years gap. Definitely in these 4 years the Japanese must have put in a great amount of effort to come out with g tone series. That's why it is really good.
Totally agree, it's an amazing string in terms of repulsion, control, crisp feel, and playability. You just feel the string works with you all the time, never against you. Tension retention I'll know over the next few weeks. Heck, even if it's just average tension retention, my hand is just itching to press the buy button on a reel from MBS.
Do it! I have a reel sitting on my MBS shopping cart... But I also have a camera lens sitting in my other shopping cart. Badminton or photography.
