The first big hope of this generation in badminton. Saina has been and continues to be a wonderful flag bearer for indian badminton. Hope she recovers from he injury and continues to get laurels for the country.

Also true... Her market space is threatened and she needs to protect her brand economically esp. given she will be out for rest of season.

Haryana???? She is an international athlete playing for India.... Haryana needs to be proud of its national games players and must ensure they dont drop out after school and continue sports in college.

Which generation??? There are people from 6 to 96 here and from Kabul to California here too... So for some reading this even Caro, Akane and May are hopes.
She is the 1st big hope for the Indians born between 96-06 maybe.

What has happened to her form, since she failed to qualify from the group stage in Rio Olympics, her performance has gone downhill. Now she can't even reach the semi final of a Grand prix event in Macau.

Certainly haven't been here or near the newspapers recently? Have You?
Anyways, she was injured during ROG and her knees were later operated, she has recently started practicing again, only 2-3 months to be precise.
Unfortunately she is no way near her 100% fitness, she's still facing trouble to cover FH and her stamina is also a suspect.
We can just hope everything proceeds well, and we can watch our own Saina "back in form" in PBL

Ofc, she is. More match practice and some tourneys in kitty to boos her morale. Loosing against BO for the first time in Thai GPG and now against Jindapol for the first time in her career in INA PSS, must be having hard time. These small small matches when you are returning from an injury can prove to be devastating

she is getting an appearance fee in the hopes of capturing a larger indian market in the u.s. o_O

is it a prudent use of money by usa badminton and/or sponsors? hmmm...

Well as long as it helps badminton to grow, no. Many Indians live in US esp students, great chance for US BA to do some publicity

in usab's case growing the sport will not help them financially. losing money means taking three steps backwards from everything you have planned for the future.

is saina going to promote joining usab? because that's the only way usa badminton makes money in the long run. the risk is if she loses early. can usab and sponsors afford that risk? is she contracted to stick around all 5 days?

india is already sending a large team with a good chance of many playing into the later rounds. the ?'n remains: is it a prudent use of money by usa badminton (which has no money) and/or sponsors?

are they hoping for increased ticket sales? i have not seen any advertising of her appearance. the tournament starts in 30 days and if they want her appearance to impact ticket sales someone at usab better pick up the ball...

it's funny how saina at the mid game interval in her match against sun yu said "bohot ho Gaya sala ab bas attack Karna hai" and she did just that in the rest of the part of the match. saina showed she still has that will and determination it's just a matter of time, she just needs that lost confidence back. she deserves another chance, hope she will come back to where she left off before Rio, India loves her and indian badminton needs her.

I felt she shouldn't have smashed so much cos most of them were too near to SY and within her reach. More variations to the corners especially drop shots would certainly wears SY out and given her victory.

I think she would have won the match had she not fallen on the court at the end of the first game, it was 17 all and saina twisted her ankle and lost the next 4 points with unforced errors to give the game to sun. anyway she showed signs that she will be back to her best, she just needs more tournaments and she looks to have put on some weight post that surgery, she needs to work more on physical condition.
