    Don't forget to mention the Olympic games in between as BWF treats the OG and WC on par, as there's no WC in the Olympic year , regarding them as equivalent.

    Precisely, when the SSF makes it automatic qualification for the OG/WC, nobody complains. Obviously, their pet peeve is not the rule itself but which player gets it.

    It seems Dato' accepted this wildcard calmly, unlike the 2013 one.

    Briefly,LCW's response:
    http://www.sinchew.com.my/node/1640478/意外谌龙获外卡‧李宗伟:做好本份

    1) He was taken by surprise, Chen Long's wild card award;

    2) He felt his Glasgow WC quest is even more challenging now;

    3) Since it's beyond his control, no point talking further, just concentrate on himself, do his own part well;

    4) He certainly wants to be outstanding at the worlds, therefore making his best preparation is most important;

    5) He expressed that if he wants to win the WC, he must beat all his opponents, therefore he accepts the fact of Chen Long's wild card;

    5) He admitted he's currently not in peak form, and losing in succession to Lin Dan is because Super Dan is a truly exceptional player;

    6) In order to fight for his first WC,he must change his game and strategy;

    7) He has to discuss with his coaches (Hendrawan and Tey Seu Bock) on the new strategy;

    8) He and his coaches have noticed Lin Dan has also changed his strategy.

    Thanks, you're most welcome. I'm flattered, glad you appreciate my effort. I'm only one among many who contribute our small part for the forum in the service of badminton. You yourself have also been making your contributions and doing your part. Let's work together. Keep it up.

    By the way, there's also another Chinese article covering more or less the same ground, so no translation necessary.

    Maybe it is Lee Chong Wei and his team's mind games telling media that Lin Dan has changed something and they have noticed it and will solve his puzzle in Glasgow.

    Only to force Lin Dan to change his current successful style which Lee Chong Wei can't cope with.

    I'm not the least bit surprised that all three of them, the Super Trio, who know each other so well, are playing mind games consciously or unconsciously.

    To me, Lin Dan is the smartest, he can think on his feet and adjust his game accordingly during the match itself, even without coaches' input. Actually, I'm only concerned about his fitness/stamina , assuming his current motivation is maintained for long enough.

    OTOH, I also think that Lin Dan, for all his accomplishments, has the least need to play mind games as he often plays according to his whims and fancies nowadays unless it's a match or tournament that matters to him, usually the majors.

    It appeared to me that Chen Long has matured as a player, the way he handled Lin Dan esp in G1 of the BAC final is evident of him reading and anticipating Lin Dan's game better than before though he lost it narrowly 20-22.

    G2, after about 6-all when Lin Dan began to show signs of fatigue and beset by it till the end of G3 is not representative of Lin Dan's game as he made too many uncharacteristic unforced errors and misjudgements; he himself admitted he was tired. Not surprising, as he was playing back-to-back tournaments where the week before he was pushed hard by Qiao Bin at the semifinals which went the full distance, dropping it in the end.

    At the upcoming Glasgow WC,all three of the Super Trio start fresh, and I think the luck of the draw may affect Lin Dan more in terms of fitness/stamina than LCW and the least on Chen Long who is supremely fit.

    How would it be in anyway fair that the world ranking No. 9 player is not given a chance to play in a 64-player draw tournament? It doesn't make sense at all that you would let ranking #63 play but not #9. So the wildcard is the smartest, most obvious decision the BWF could have made.

    The idea that Chen Long doesn't deserve to get the WC because he only won 1 tournament in the qualifying period is ridiculous. The majority of the players will not have won many matches, let alone a tournament.

    Also, the WC is not the SS Finals. Its not the final event of a series. As such, qualification should not be solely dependent on results in the previous year.

    Chen Long's reaction to the wildcard: "really honored and fortunate that BWF can give me this opportunity. This also encourages me to work harder to prepare for the competitions to come."

    Thanks.

    But I don't understand. I thought Chen Long just said he had have a wrist injury.

    Why would he feel "really honored and fortunate that BWF can give me this opportunity"???

    Why would this encourage him "to work harder to prepare for the competitions to come"?

    I don't understand.

    I thought he would decline the wild card!

    As posted by someone here, Chen Long said he has fully recovered from the wrist injury in an interview after winning an early match in the BAC.
