Hi. Firstly thanks for reading my review. As I have mentioned the 3 stage acceleration of the arm, power generated from the Z-Strike relies mostly on stage 2 and 3. Near point of impact, you shouldn't be at stage 1 already. When you're near point of impact and about to swat the shuttle, your elbow extension kicking outwards PLUS your wrist rotation should already be in full speed, with stage 1, initial arm swing, at the highest point possible and transfer power over to stage 2 and 3. Of course you can swing your arm really hard to go for a full power stage 1 motion but in doing so, you lose 2 things. Accuracy and power control of stage 2 and 3. You need to find the perfect balance. The common mistake of some players is over-committing to stage 1 and stage 2 and 3 the power transfer is lost in the process. Either due to timing or technique of wrist rotation. As for the article you linked, I feel that the big S motion is for clear. For smash, the wind-up has to be much shorter and faster. Again I wish to emphasize that I am not a coach and I CAN be wrong. However whatever advice I give has proven to work on the court.
No worries bro. Just trying to clear some doubts. I will try it out when I get hold of the racket. Cheers!
Day Unknown; Setup: Li Ning No.1 with Black yonex overgrip (grooved). 28lbs Square Tension without Prestretch done by a rather average li Ning shop stringer. I was extremely excited to use the white string as it was the first time I had even seen it let alone use it. The first shot however brought with it such disappointment that I can't believe this was it. The blue string I loved after just one shot it was not but rather something alien to me. Funnily enough the girl spectating said why are you holding your racket like it's an alien racket. And I couldn't reply because that was exactly it. I wasn't sure if this actually WAS my racket given how it was playing. But hey 2 days of not playing maybe had me down and all I needed was to adjust. Nothing changed and I ended up losing a full game quite to someone I wouldn't even imagine losing to. Picked up the old, heavy & cumbersome arcsaber 002 and brought back the game from 17-9 to 20-20. Which further worried me as It wasn't me who was that rusty. Handed it over to the coach and he wasn't satisfied with the racket either while he had loved it previously just days before. I'm not sure what the plan of action will be. My bg80 courier guy arrived today at 1pm and no one was home so he'll come and drop by the strings tomorrow. Now I'll have the choice of playing with the string job I hate playing with while my favorite strings lie in the bag begging to be put on te racket. My smashes and the coaches smashes were unusually slow as well (as2). Slower than bg85 for sure which was 4 pounds above and typically not that repulsive compared to the thin strings. I didn't think the whole it's better at higher tension comments had a lot of weight to them but now I'm anything but not convinced about it. This is weird and awkward to play with below 30.
I am using it with aerobite, and i had lining no1 already on one of my z strikes.. it feels similar, no1 gave me more explosion.. but aerobite gave me more control. I am amazed how easy it was for me to net the shuttle consistently.
The Li Ning shop stringer has messed up the string and the knot has went through the grommet. This definitely feels more like a bad stringjob than anything else. Should've stuck to my trusted yonex guys and given them the no.1.
Should try Kizuna String. Z64 & Z63 both go very well with DZS. Playability & durability are both outstanding of their strings. Very hard to obtain in most area, I guess.
I'll be recording the sounds to check. Sound plays a big part in the experience so I'm hoping for the best. Haven't really seen aerosonic above 26lbs on any of the rackets here let alone 30 so it'll be rather interesting.
I'm don't really have a special thing going for sounds when it comes to badminton but you could also give BG80 a try. It has been nothing but pleasant surprises.
I use 28lbs when I use BGAS. This string performs extremely well at high tension. It can take up to 6-8 hours of game time. @30 lbs, I assume it can take 3-4 hours. It's still very costly that can't be my usual set-up.
Funny you mentioned my favourite string there as something I should try because I definitely agree That's really low. Do you hit hard continuously? I personally know I'll have to hold back a tad and only try something when the kill is almost ensured or 60%+.
For a string 0.61mm thin, one can't expect any longer life. And I think 6-8 hours is already good for 0.61mm. LN-1 can only last this long, IMO. The only thin string that can last long so far I tried is Kizuna Z58 which is 0.58mm ,and it can take up 24 hours game time. Though the durability of Z58 is amazing, I didn't like how it plays, therefore I don't recommend it. I think Z58 is a tad of soft, while Z63 and Z64 are more to my liking. (though they are thicker, durability are still 24 hours ) Anyway, durability not concerned, BGAS is recommended. However, if you think string cost is concerned, Z63 and Z64 are my recommendation.
