WS redraw reported here https://bwfworldchampionships.bwfba...s-re-draw-total-bwf-world-championships-2019/ The new draw https://bwf.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draw.aspx?id=F4F75B1C-E72D-4248-865F-8EC38C06F7CB&draw=13
Dunno. It's reported that there was a mistake in the drawing process. But, if you ask me, the original draw doesn't seem wrong to me.
DRAW amendment (WS Redraw, 9th August 2019) => https://extranet.bwfbadminton.com/d...DRAW _ Updated Friday, 09th August 2019_.XLSX It's not much significant changes, second and third quadrant of original draw swapped. Nozomi Okuhara, He Bing Jiao and Sung Ji Hyun are drawn at top half while Chen Yu Fei, Saina Nehwal and Michelle Li move into bottom-half draw.
Pretty crappy “mistake” by BWF. Doesn’t help make them look like a reliable federation. The WC is one of the biggest and most prestigious tournaments in the badminton world and this makes it feel like there’s something shady going on with the draw too even if there isn’t.
There is something different. Ohori will not meet Yamaguchi in the second round If she can win the first round in the old draw.
List of the WC medalists who participate in this WC (updated). WS Q1 - Akane Yamaguchi, Ratchanok Intanon Q2 - Nozomi Okuhara, He Bing Jiao, Sung Ji Hyun Q3 - Chen Yu Fei, Saina Nehwal Q4 - Pusarla Venkata Sindhu The seeded players in Q2 and Q3 got swapped with each others.
I just realized this afternoon that JPN now holds the World Rank #1 in 3/5 disciplines... What a change from just a few years ago. Li Yongbo must be wryly laughing from his retirement home...
For Ohori, blessing in disguise as she can avoid more favoured Yamaguchi at early round and will meet He Bing Jiao if she could pass Cheung Ngan Yi. Kim Hyo Min replaces Mauritius player Kate Foo Kune who's suspended after positive doping test : https://sport.tv2.dk/badminton/2019...edperson-i-vm-kaos-efter-positiv-dopingproeve
Thanks Clely, I just reviewed my comment, there are a lot of mistakes in sentence. So sorry for readers. (I'm quite tired at that time)
By the looks of it PVS (and hence India) might not get any medal this time. TTY in QF, TTY must be hungry to complete her title collection after the blunder last year. Even though she's a little off form and PVS did defeat her in the year end finals last year, I think we all can agree that TTY is the favourite here. PVS on the other hand, rise to occasion in big tourneys so it'll be interesting to see if she begs another one.
Too early to say. There are lots of top players who have equal chance to win the WC, especially AY, who is in top form recently.
