Unfortunately, to be the World Champions Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo need to beat the 2 main rivals that have beaten them before this year in the QF and SF:
    R32 - Keichiro Matsui/Yoshinori Takeuchi
    R16 - (likely) Ben Lane/Sean Vendy [13]
QF - (likely) Takuro Hoki/Yugo Kobayashi [5] or Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han [15] or Huang Kaixiang/Liu Cheng
SF - (likely) Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin [3] or Ong Yew Sin/Teo Ee Yi [9] or Satwiksairaj Rankireddy/Chirag Shetty [8] or Goh Sze Fei/Nur Izzudin [14] or Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin

The bottom half of the draw is 'kinder' for Hendra Setiawan/Mohd Ahsan [2] or Fajar Alfian/Mohd Rian Ardianto [4].
    Hendra Setiawan/Mohd Ahsan:
R32 vs a Norway or Austrian pair
R16 vs likely Mark Lamsfub/Marvin Seidel [12] or Christo Popov/Toma Junior Popov
QF vs any pair in that very competitive quarter with Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen [7] or Akira Koga/Taichi Saito or Vladimir Ivanov/Ivan Sozonov [11] or Di Zi Jian/Wang Chang

    Fajar Alfian/Mohd Rian Ardianto [6]:
R32 vs (likely) Bjarne Geiss/Jan Collin Volker
    R16 vs (likely) Goh V. Shem/Tan Wee Kiong [10]
QF vs (likely) Aaron Chia/Soh Wooi Yik [4] or He Ji Ting/Tan Qiang [16] or Ou Xuan Yi/Zhang Nan

It will be an open World Championships in MD!

i dun see China XD Olympic champ Wang/Huang in the draw. They will have been no. 2 seed instead of the Thai.

Huang Dongping not in WD draw too, guess she's injured.

Beware of the Chinese. As many players are playing the hectic schedule overseas. Chinese players have been at home preparing for the WC. In MS be prepared for some upsets notably in the QF if Ginting meets Li Shi Feng. other top players are either tired or injured.

Very similar to ole Manchester United story. A very young coach. Only hire young legends by SBA.

Hope he doesnt flop in the coming world championship. Add oil. Any strategy to beat Viktor this time? Sticking to the plan this time? No excuses ya.

What was lacking when he lost to Viktor in recent IO final. Looks very tame. Not like a beast when he beat others.

Can this be fixed before the coming wc? Do not give too much respect to Viktor is also an important factor. ;)

If no one pokes them, they wont wake up. ;)

16 seeded for each category, 64 entries for ms, 48 entries for ws, md, xd as usually but this time only 47 for wd. They don't pick #17 which is Ashwini Ponnappa/N. Sikki Reddy but I L Castillo Salazar/P la Torre Regal randomly get a bye like other seeded

So in MS, Axelsen, Lee ji jia , Lakshya Sen and Kunlavut have qualified for Knockout stages. Most probably, Sen will play Lee Ji jia in semis and Victor will play Kunlavut

Okay, I just heard about The Minions are withdrawing from the BWC BUT let’s wait for any official press release because there are currently no confirmation of it. The rumor circulated strongly a few hours ago after Marcus’ wife, Agnes’ now-deleted-IG-post mentioned about The WTF as her husband’s last tournament this year. Some INA badminton insiders (like a former PBSI journalist who are still in the know) were basically confirming it, tweeted ‘Iya’ (‘yes’) when INA badminton fans were panicking over in on Twitter.

Some of them also managed to catch some excerpt of Coach Herry’s conversation (heard in his daughter’s TikTok vid) with his wife about Agnes’ deleted IG post and how people are now know about the issue. I hope it’s all wrong but unfortunately so far it seems to be quite likely.

It’s still unclear however, if it’s just the Minions or also other INA players. Because apparently Coach Herry is possibly also not going(?) but Coach Aryono is currently on holiday. Mr. Roedyanto earlier this day also tweeted ‘GWS (Get Well Soon) Ahsan’ then deleted it. It’s all weird.

INA umpire Jaohari Latif said, ‘Why everybody is asking about ‘the breaking news’? You are all already know what happened.’ Then said that let’s just wait and maybe tomorrow morning (INA time) there will be something official on the PBSI site.

But a sport journalist was just asked about the Minions’ participation in the BWC and he said that they’re participated as the number 1 seed.

It’s a mess considering about how some INA badminton figures involved and heating up the rumor. I really hope that all the panic are all for nothing and it’s all wrong.

I think it's highly possible that Goh Liu Ying will retire soon as well. It's sad that they couldn't appear at the BWC as a last goodbye.

An INA fan sent a direct message via IG to a PBSI personnel and apparently not only the Daddies and the Minions, but the whole INA team are in the progress of withdrawing because of the Omicron. Jaohari Latif in his more recent tweet also mentioned about Omicron, ask people to wait for an official update but still ask people to pray for it. Means that probably it yet to be finalized but the writing's on the wall. Main coaches like Herry IP, Aryono M and Eng Hian are currently on holiday and several INA main players were seen outside of Pelatnas, not even in Jakarta, like Fajar.

So suddenly, too bad if INA team can't participate in WC :(
Is it possible they already planned it during/before Bali tourneys or they just changed the plan recently?
