I'm sure no knife is allowed into any sporting event for security reasons but it can be smuggled in. From a personal point of view, if someone started giving me points out of pity, I would feel more insulted. It would probably make me feel more like a loser. Better to go down in flames 21-0 with the opponent giving an honest effort than to look good on the scorecard but knowing you'd been looked down upon.
