Hey, last Friday I was playing badminton doubles with a few mates of mine. During the session, I found myself smashing into the net too often. I suspect:

    1) The net may be set a little bit too high
    2) I jumped at the wrong time
    3) My skills have gone down

    What has gone wrong? :crying:

    Have you been regurlarly playing?

You know what sometimes - it is just a bad day.

And normally when im having a bad day - its because im dehydrated.
If its not that - it is just a Bad Day.

Get the bird higher. Every shot you make, you probably don'T take it high enough.

Go simple and ask soem to hit a couple of too short clears into the middle-back court and just check the birdie when you are fully extended. Just hit it slowly. Then add more and more power, but try to keep high and matter more about angle than power.

When you're done with this for about 20 to 25 times growing power regularly, you can play the shuttle correctly as you said you are used to play. Do a smash drill when warming up; one clears short, the other make a mid-speed smash and the other lifts it and then the smasher clears it short and the other smashes and so on. It's easy and when you're warm enough and if you paid enough attention onto the height of the impact and the angle of the shot your game will be played easier.

it's your angle, and probably contact point too. Just an example: you can jump high but it doesn't mean your contact point is high. Same thing with angle, you can hit high but with a steep angle it'll still hit the net... Just watch your smashes and watch your motion.

An update: Last night I was having a few rounds again. This time all of my smashes sailed above the net! I suppose "it was just s bad day" at that time.
