I think you mean "middle of the stringbed."

This has been discussed before. The only application of the off-center hit is for a more controlled short serve.

If a pro hit the upper right spot of the frame, they'd snap strings every few rallies. Hit the sweetspot only.

i will hit the upper mid of the frame. that is where i think most power is generated from, for my smashes.

Well I think most professionals will tell you to hit the sweetspot , and most racket manufacturers have rackets with a large sweetspot.

The sweetspot is in the middle of the racket - and is where the most power can be generated.

This is also because of vibrations through the racket - hitting the sweetspot generates virtually no vibrations but other spots on the racket do - so reducing the power , there is more explanation to hitting in the middle othert than vibrations though.

actually the sweetspot isnt located in middle middle. it's approx 1cm above middle. For me its like that. You can test by bouncing the shuttle in different places in the string bed to find the sweetspot.

That isn't really accurate though , to find the correct swetspot you would need to accurately test every single place of the rackets strings - to see which part gives the least vibrations :D

Is this a case of if you could control your racquet head well enough to take advantage of the answer to the question, you wouldn't be asking the question anyway, so it's all a bit academic.

The sweetspot isn't in the straight "middle"; it's the part that bounces the best. You'll find it not by using a rular and measuring out, but by taking your racquet and actually hitting the bird.

the only time u dont need to necessarily hit the middle or sweet spot is when you are going for a cross court net drop, thats where u hit the sides of the string bed.

this actuallly depends on how powerful and accurate you want the shot to be.

powerful and accurate shots are done by hitting with the sweetspot which is around the middle, but for softer shots like the serve, blocks or net, you can hit with the lower or upper part of the racket.

It's also a kind of deception because evn you hit it fast and powerful, the speed would be greatly reduced, especially if you hit with the lower part. I like to do this on serve
