With Christmas just around the corner, Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin said the new hearing date would likely be known after the New Year. “We are already into the third week of December. By next week, most sports officials in the West would go on leave. “It (the hearing) is unlikely to be held this year and now I am looking at early next year,” Khairy said on Monday. Chong Wei’s hearing was initially scheduled for Dec 8 but was postponed following the Badmintion Aassociation of Malaysia’s (BAM) request for Chong Wei’s lawyer Mike Morgan to be given more time to prepare his case. Chong Wei, who was tested positive for the banned substance dexamethasone at the World Championships in Copenhagen on Aug 30, faces a maximum two-year ban. Khairy said he was told that Morgan and the BAM had prepared the best case to defend Chong Wei. “We are just waiting to present it before the hearing panel,” he said. http://www.thestar.com.my/Sport/Bad...ng-likely-in-early-2015-says-Sports-Minister/
Razif sidek is ... Not only he is defaming LCW, he is also implying BAM is involved in this saga as well. What is BAM's stand on this ?
Just got back from hospital with my dad who was undergoing chemo therapy. The Hospital prescribed dexamethasone to be taken at 4 tablets for 3 times daily. mmmmmmmm.
I can't read Chinese, but I'll stick my neck out and say no. You can't just sweep drugs procedure under the carpet!
I can't read it either. Looking at the numbers, I hazard a guess that it's given a synopsis of the situation. But whether it says the hearing is postponed indefinitely is beyond my comprehension. There certainly isn't a question mark in the final paragraph.
I have read through the posts here a few times. It seems to me that, save for one or two persons, most of the people in this forum including the very knowledgeable ones are quite reluctant to share their knowledge of dexamethasone as a masking agent. How effective is it as a masking agent and what performance-enhancing drugs can it effectively mask. I hope that LCW is not found using dexamethasone to mask those drugs.
If the initial testing for other steroids could've been masked by dexamethasone, could the second or further more comprehensive testing detect and differentiate the other truly banned steroids from dexamethasone? I'm asking because I don't know.
Above is a link provided by gjoo888. Just keen to know whether this may the reason why Dexa is banned.
It doesn't say the mechanism how dexamethasone can be used - it says it has been tried. That doesn't indicate success in being a masking agent. Also, there is not an obvious mechanism that might be used. I was unable to find any articles detailing dexamethasone used as a masking agent. Therefore, I can only conclude for this particular use, it is only speculation at present.
Out of curiosity, I Googled many pages and articles on "dexamethasone masking agent for steroids" and I couldn't find anything solid about it. Diuretics that dilute urine, yes, but nowhere else does it say that dexamethasone or other steroids can mask banned steroids. If it's in the urine even in small amounts, it'll be detected by LC-MS ie. Liquid Chromatography - Mass Spectrometry. It cannot be masked.
