Germany is playing in the TUC, so the broadcast rights for Germany have been bought up by some German, if not EU, stations/media... look for them or look for VPNs...

Now you know how some Chinese fans feel -- they love Gill Clark and hate their CCTV5 commentators, but are forced to watch them because CCTV5 almost always buys up the local broadcast rights for badminton events...

It's was THA 2 vs KOR 1 for the MS, so it was the KOR MD coaches who made the difference...

Though the MDs on both side were all mid-tier/ new players, the THA MDs were marginally stronger than the KOR MDs in every department EXCEPT for coaching and tactics -- the KOR coaches caught on to the THA MDs's play-style and weaknesses early on, and got their players to counter and capitalized on them.... while the THA MDs/ coaches never really developed any particular focus in their game-play or tactics throughout their games.

The THA men were so close to beating KOR and getting into the knock-out rounds, but ultimately it was the experience of the KOR coaches that made the difference.

"Shot of the day" has to be Tim Isriynet falling sideways, spinning backwards and returning a shot from behind his body with a flat drive that crosses into the empty opposite corner to win that rally -- even in slow-motion, you can only see about 4 frames of it...

World ranking means nothing in team competition, India Thomas team fails to clear opening match, shocked by French squad, 1-4. Sai Praneeth paves the way for his team, def. Brice Leverdez, 21-7 / 21-18 but the remaining four matches won by French players, they turn the tables to stun more-favoured IND. Sameer Verma and Lakshya Sen lost narrowly to Lucas Corvee and Toma Junior Popov respectively also their doubles pairs as well. This victory pushes French chance to march on knock-out stage. Later on, India Uber team also suffers the same fate, defeated by Canada with same scoreline, 1-4. Saina Nehwal lost three games to Canadian leading lady Michelle Li and it's definitely add heavy pressure for Indian team who come to Bangkok without their aces Pusarla Sindhu and Ashwini Ponnappa.

Thomas Cup title contenders, Indonesia powers past Canada, 5-0. Lee Cheuk Yiu denies Japan team to score 5-0 as the youngsters outwits Kazumasa Sakai in two straight-games, 21-15 / 21-13. Earlier match, Angus Ng Ka Long gave Kento Momota hard times before come back stronger to secure second and deciding games. Thailand Uber team destroy Germany, 5-0 also strong team Japan and Korea won their opening group match comfortably. Akane Yamaguchi didn't play her best and had trouble to eliminate Wendy Chen Hsuan Yu.

Third session of tournament day 1 last night saw Korea Thomas team edged out host Thailand, 3-2. Son Wan Ho wasted his opportunity to seal opening game, 19-21 but Son was unfazed with that matter and grabbed next two games against Suppanyu Avihingsanon. Korea delivered one more point through first doubles, Kim DY/Chung ES who battled hard to overcome Isriyanet/Namdash. Kantaphon Wangcharoen sparked glimmer of hope to Thai team after took revenge over NZL Open losing against Heo Kwang Hee. But Korea secured vital point in second men's doubles tie, 2017 WJC bronze medalists Kang MH/Kim WH beat 2014 World Junior Champion Kedren/Puavaranukroh. In last match, Pannawit Thongnuam contributed another point for Thailand, eliminated lesser-known Korean MS, Ha Yoong Wong. Another result, top contender China outclassed Australia, 5-0 also Chinese Taipei blanked Germany.

Damn that woman commentator is even more annoying than the dude. Talks about "Michelle" the entire time, they're probably best mates or something.

There are not so many interesting Group matches the first days, the only good match so far was KOR-THA.

    Worse in PBL.

She keeps referring to Chau Hoi Wah, whose english name isn't fielded or shown on TV, Kathy, during commentating.

I get it that they *MAY* be friends, bff's even! But to the casual viewer, no one on court is Kathy! Scratch that scalp!

Can you imagine the facepalm if someone else decides to be way too dramatic and describes someone who dives as Deadpool because that player never gives up and has a never die attitude? What a far fetched association.

This is a match, not a comedy skit! So get that **** together!

Theres that other dude as well; in PBL and other tourneys that needs more than/ without Gill and Morten/Steen; keeps going hoi hoi hoi oi oi when theres a good smash or out of position dives; and showing off his flaccid malay vocabulary and phrases whenever there are Malaysians cheering boleh/satu lagi.
How I wish you can decrypt whatever the Msian coaches are telling the players instead of telling me singular phrases I don't need to know, ala Steen for the Danish players.

    The f*ck?

Pretty sure it's Charmaine Reid. Not Anna Rice. Still a former Canadian national team member though.
