I feel like they are going nowhere with their powerplay. if they are lucky, they will win one tournament or two per year but thats it man. So disappointing in such a way that they are touted the next Cai/Fu.

There is a Chinese saying, if you cant beat them 8 times, 9th is the charm. And it will be sweeter for Li Liu to win at home

Disappointing that India did not even get 1 title. Complete opposite of last year's performance.

They are rivals now? One side beating is not a rivalry.

I don't think any of the Chinese MD player injured -at least nothing serious if any at all, but indeed they played very uninspiringly. I caught a glimpse of Li Junhui feared back court attack for a spurt in the late 1st game, and some more in the early part of the 2nd game, and it actually worked in penetrating the Indonesian MD pair defense, but he just didn't do it consistently and continuously enough for it to matter.

HBJ's playing style is a trying hard LD copy cat. Problem is, she does not have the physicality of a man. Unless she learns to play within the bounds of female physical limitations, she will not achieve much.

Well, they won the world championship, so if they can win Olympics 2020. It won't matter if minions win 30 superseries without world champ. Or Olympic. At least that will be the argument for some

I have to stop watching the MD finals. I'm soo much of a Li/Liu fan that I cannot stand watching them play like a losser.

I hate that arguement of summing up and confining players achievement on winning gold at WC and Olympics as if those two are the only titles that are worth winning.

at this point I feel bad for li/liu, being beaten 8 times in a row while you're the world champion is not nice. they didn't look like they believe in their playing style, they think just because they're playing in such a slow hall they can win it by just lifting. you can clearly see there's some mental block whenever li/liu playing against minions, they didn't believe they can win.

Well, your opinion is as good as mine. Let's see how it goes for IR.

No doubt, I believe Intanon has the skills, and in the early rounds, her stamina is not too bad, but it often becomes an issue at the later stage or in long, grueling matches. Her ability to grind out a win in that kind of situation is the exception rather than the rule, I feel - I recall the one occasion where she came from behind to beat Marin, but, more often than not, I see her struggling with fatigue.

Btw, IR's fitness/stamina is still better than HBJ's who must really work hard on improving it asap, high time (or else I fear even the placid Xia Xuanze may lose patience with her). I hope the new CHN WS chief coach , Luo Yigang, can help HBJ resolve her problem/shortcoming in time for the Olympic cycle.

    Top girls' h2h against Marin

    Nozomi Okuhara - (6-3)
    Sindhu -(5-7)
    Akane Yamaguchi-(4-5)
    Tai Tzu ying -(6-4)
    Ratchanok - (5-2)
    He bingjiao (1-4)
    Saina Nehwal (5-5)

It seems like Except he bingiao, all other top girls are doing quite well against Marin.

I agree with you, if they don't win a WC or Olympics they're still good pairs or players. WC is a annual tournament right now unlike Olympics.

Everyone seems to point out flawed strategy or bad play from li Liu. But minions were playing well and hard to kill.
Even with broken strings, running off court to get new racket, Li Liu can't kill the point. And this happens more than once

An interesting point, maybe worth exploring. Anyway, it's for HBJ and/or her coach to work it out, her deficiency in physique or physicality limitations, that is.

Yeah that will be too bad but too bad, minions won the AsianGames which is much more prestigious than WC. AG started in 30/40s while WC stared in 70s.

In fact it would have hurt more had they won the WC and didnt win the AG.

Of course, OG is another matter. But if i cant win OG, i dont think i will reject 30SS titles and its prize money, right?

Well not winning OG or WC will become a monkey on their back, especially if your are talking Goat pairs
