World has moved on. Dude’s playing like he played before. Nothing will work. Average now.

I think the rule says otherwise. He would get no points if he resigns against a compatriot. In this special case, if he gave up in the men's singles, he would no longer have been allowed to compete in the men's doubles.

How can the umpire hear the sound of the racket hitting the shuttle at the last point IN THIS STADIUM ? :D:D:D

And I'm sure that Indonesia's pair didn't need ''the call fault''.

Mxd doubles has moved on from late conversions of singles players to doubles. I think the Malaysian men’s player of Goh Soon Huat and Tan Kian Meng (or at least one of them) is a singles players converted to mixed doubles. However, there doesn’t seem to be any players younger anywhere than them who have also followed this path.

Precisely. It's no longer the case that XD is your backup plan, a fallback of sorts. Players are dedicating to it and focusing from the get go. If KM converted to XD (as in the hypothetical suggestion) he'll only do worse as his smashes aren't good enough for doubles in my opinion haha.

    LS (2.7) vs LZJ (1.43)
    Kodai vs Anders

Looks like 2 good matches today.

For the ladies players converting to doubles, I can only think of Sapsiree Taerattanachai who played singles. She had a knee injury (iirc ACL) and came back to concentrate on doubles.

Misaki Matsutomo too. She was a WJC silver medallist in 2010 losing to Ratchanok.

Sapsiree sustained a left knee injury while playing women’s doubles at the 2017 SEA games.
But yes, she had some success early on as a Singles player (2013 US open)
