I injured my shoulder from hitting too many backhand clears with my squash racket. With that said, my backhand grip was slightly off and now that's been corrected. The incorrect grip helped attribute to my injury.
yes, the more weight is the more better you'll get i train myself with the tennis racket, ofter few week after that improve alots.....clear, smash, backhand... but the drop shots....:crying: not improve at all..
To Joeling, wrist work helps a lot in developing better defense against smashes. Basically, to be able to lob a powerful smash, you need to fight against a big amount of momentum. Perhaps the largest your hand is going to experience in a game. So do work on strengthening your wrist as that is the least powerful of the arm and will tend to lose out to the incoming momentum most. For the rest, before you begin playing with a squash racket, please make sure that you have a smooth technique to begin with and have done appropriate weights training to strengthen your muscle. Otherwise you will get injuries I injured my shoulder and wrist before too, because I forced myself to play with squash racket for strength training.
Use Tennis racket to train! I train my students to practice hitting drives with tennis racket for 15 minutes. 3 sets. same for net clears and drops from the back. They then get 15 minutes rest and play a defensive game with squash racket. Then 5 minutes rest and 25 minutes of jump rope. Then its singles and doubles challenge with their regular badminton racket. They do this every day and their wrist power is awsome. Give it a try and see if your wrist power improves. The secret is the training routine you follow.
