Maybe its because if you have that messy sticker there, its as good as saying that it is real and checking the serial is not really needed anymore?

I have checked in the information of your Yonex Nanospeed 8000 Serial:5748823; Date Code:240952AS (date=24 Sep 2005) to my information list of Yonex rackets made in Japan, its serial no. and date code are legitimate.
However you still need to inspect the other physical features of the racket carefully and compare the specifications to ascertain its total legitimacy or authenticity yourself.

Why is it that after posts and posts about being careful with buying fake rackets, people continue to fall for it?

A few things people do over and over again:

    1) Continue to post their numbers when it was mentioned that leeshim would not be checking the eBay ones.

    2) Keep buying from eBay.

I feel so sorry for those people who bought the fake rackets. Although it might be easy for us to think that these people deserve to be cheated because of their stupidity, but nobody should have fallen prey to such evil businessmen in the first place. There should be more prominent messages on the forum to catch any newbie's attention. This might at least help to alert a few more clowns among those that do not read the threads first before buying.

    Its really sad.

I have to agree. Welcome to "The Hall of Fakes" if you go on Ebay and get a counterfit.

i think the problem is, most people only hear of this thread after they've bought on e-bay. then someone mentions that you can post your serials here, but by then it's way too late. the value of this thread, and our warnings is to avoid this situation occuring for those who are fortunate enough to read it.

Which cell in your brain continue to insist that you attempt to buy from some dubious eBay seller?
