But CL is not from LD's, LCW's, Gade's and Taufik's era. That's why he is not playing the Legends Vision exhibition matches.
Maybe in a few, or rather more than a few, years there will be a new set of legends: Axelsen, Momota, Chen Long and ...
LoL,who cares about Legend Vision.......It's Yonex's drama putting 4 players on the court to increase their sale..........Heck,I haven't heard a single word from their mouth about their vision for the future......LD said after retirement, going to fashion industry(goodbye badminton)......LCW might try in F1 racing......
Where? Yet to come across such an article or thread anywhere. Plz share. And the 2nd part. Taufik, hands down.
No problem athlete bar Mayweather or Marciano can boast of a perfect career. Give KS time. He will be back.
Who would have thought? Last year CL was my big favorite to win the MS gold medal; but now, not so much.
Chen Long is a very systematic player. It's hard to tell if he has reached his peak until he starts tinkering around with his choice of shots. If you don't stress test a system, you don't know where it will peak before it gets overwhelmed. Clearly though, he's definitely not quite a team player like Lin Dan is, and his coaches have mentioned that Chen Long is not an easy to deal with because he keeps to himself. But individually, I feel that he's nowhere near peak yet. Perhaps a better coach will change his mentality and allow him to reach his peak, just like how a new coach for Lee Chong Wei helps with him winning Lin Dan and Chen Long in one Superseries. Back to topic, I would think a 2015 Chen Long could win a 2005 Taufik.
IMHO, Chen Long is stronger in his defense than attack, at his best, even such superb attackers as LCW and Lin Dan finds it hard to get a shuttle past him,in effect frustrating, annoying and straining themselves either to become tentative and wary of attacking him or becoming somewhat error-prone and forced to slow down due to fatigue or both. That's how I see Chen Long beating LCW, esp those four times in a row wins which occurred twice between Nov 2012 to Aug 2015 as well as Chen Long's only two victories over Lin Dan so far. When Chen Long is on top of his game, we often see him denting his opponents' attacks and then abruptly launching his stinging counterattacks. Of course, he has the capability to seize the initiative to attack first but that's not his forte which is to construct the rally more and bide his time to attack. I tend to agree that Chen Long at his best can stop Taufik Hidayat who has a big smash, is a fast mover but more straightforward in his shot-making than either LCW or LD, both of whom have a wider repertoire. There's much talk about TH's amazing backhand, it was but only for a brief period of time as it wasn't long before, esp after 2005, the novelty effect wore off as most opponents became fully aware and anticipated it. In fact, after 2005, he scored very few (outright) winners with his renowned backhand.
TH beat LD (who was nearing his peak) a couple of times at big finals. Whereas CL struggles to beat an aging LD whose game is a lot more passive these days. I remember LD hitting winners at will against CL a few years back and doing trick shots. People talk about TH's backhand, but forget that he also had excellent net play and deception. LD even said in one video that TH's net play is exceptional. Difficult to compare CL and TH though, since TH was best using the old scoring system since he was an even slower start than CL...but my bet would be on TH.
