or you could see from another viewpoint (that I heard many times similar things upon some other players' loss):

"CL had a bad luck by having an unexpected WO by JOJ. Therefore his physical condition may not be adjusted properly and would be rusty for the SF due to the lack of a competitive match in QF.
SS is a fighter and physical condition is never a problem for him. Instead, he was lucky to have a knife-shapening session given by WWK instead of LD.
Conclusion: CL would lose. Excuse: too rusty because no match in QF."
    :D

Although I predicted LCW to beat PG, I too would like to see the old fella go out with a bang. Yeah, it would be perfect on home soil. Go PG!

I am in a dilemma when these two players meet. One is my idol and the other my countryman. So may the best player wins and hopefully carry on to take the title as well.

Talking about walkovers and the advantage of a rest day, have we forgotten that at the qualification stage all the players have to play two matches in the same day and the eventual qualifier immediately joins the main draw the next day? No rest whatever, pity them.

I should think that for these top players who are supreme athletes, having a rest day or not, whether for themselves or their opponents is no big issue - it's their form, their skills and mental state that really matters.

I never heard Chong Wei uttering a word of Chen Long having a rest day advantage against him in their JO encounter, only mentioning his own preparation and mental state after the WCH. Frankly, I think he doesn't care as long as he himself is in good shape and form. If you don't have what it takes to win, even if you have a whole week's rest, it's of no use.

In this case for Chen Long who has a shaky start in the tourney and hasn't played himself into the game thoroughly yet, I tend to agree with those who consider it might even be a disadvantage to him - it's much better that he plays JOJ and get into speed. And Sho Sasaki, a supremely fit athlete, isn't a wee bit worried that CL has a rest day. He and his coach will only be discussing what tactics and gameplan to use against CL.
