    M/Q Report version 1 (updated 22nd April 2016) => http://system.bwfbadminton.com/uplo...sion 1 (Updated Friday, 22nd April 2016).xlsx

    DRAW date : 10th May 2016

Last Premier event before Rio Olympics, a fully-packed and star-studded tournament, so many reserved players in MS category and stiff competition even started from qualification round. Denmark's leading pair Boe/Mogensen will be back in action after Mogensen underwent brain surgery last February. Also Xue Song, Chinese rising talent who got terrible injury in India Superseries have been registered here.

Why don't I see Porntip and Busanan name up there? Have they given up already for Olympic seeding? (I don't think so, especially Porntip most likely will qualify)

WD as usual lack of participants, I wonder why... INA should just register their back up players considering they will directly qualify for main draws.

I don't see either Zheng Siwei or Chen Qingchen, both are not registered in any events. Even though they did not qualify for Olympics, CHN should include them considering it would be valuable experience for them.

Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen are in for XD and Zheng Siwei is partnering Lu Kai in MD as well. Looks like CBA is grooming Zheng Siwei for greater things.

Really? I must have missed it then. Thanks for letting me know.

I wonder why Lu Kai? I never seen him as a great MD player. I mean his partnership with Liu Cheng or Cai Yun haven't really impressed me.

I don't think Xue Song will play at least 6 months later

As Cai Yun who sometimes partnered Lu Kai is more or less retired (he's yet to announce it officially), so Zheng Siwei is given a chance to try out another MD combo.

And the DRAW is already out => http://system.bwfbadminton.com/uplo... - DRAW (Updated Tuesday, 10th May 2016).xlsx

Two Indian MS have toughest hurdle at opening round, Srikanth gets Chen Long while Ajay Jayaram will take on Lee Chong Wei. The world number one Chen Long is drawn with his two teammates Tian Houwei and Lin Dan also Danish number two Jan O Jorgensen as well. At lower-half of draw, Lee Chong Wei has same quarter with Chou Tien Chen and two seeded players join them, Tommy Sugiarto and recent European Champion Viktor Axelsen.

In WS category, top-seed Carolina Marin occupies upper-half draw alongside with Saina Nehwal, Wang Yihan and Sung Ji Hyun. Two Chinese WS, Li Xuerui-Wang Shixian have same half draw with defending champion Ratchanok Intanon and Nozomi Okuhara. Li XR v P.V.Sindhu and Intanon v Sun Yu should be first round interesting ties to follow.

Some THA pairs choose to WDN:

    • WD Puttita/Sapsiree
    • MD Dechapol/Kittinupong
    • XD Dechapol/Sapsiree

Has Parupalli Kashyap already recovered form his injury problem?

There's only a week's break between the TUC and the INA PSS, I believe a number of the players/pairs coming from the TUC, esp those who went deep in that tournament, are not in the right kind of minds or conditions to compete here.

I won't be surprised to see a few more last-minute withdrawals next week.

I will expect the 3 INA youngsters to do well. They definitely want to redeem themselves for loosing in the TC, especially when they will be playing with the support of the home crowd.

Some Danish players may withdraw. They have a 12-hours flight back to Copenhagen and with the victory parade/celebrations they may want to have a rest.

    They are still inconsistent.
I expect Sony to win this if he is injury free because the other top players will take it easy with Olympics in mind
