XD, Xu Chen/Ma Jin (CHN) v Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen (CHN) H-2-H stat : 0-0 / WR : 4 v 72 A big gap of world ranking between these two finalists but the Chinese youngsters have good potential to stun their vast experienced teammate. Xu/Ma took revenge over Malaysian Chan PS/Goh LY in convincing fashion at last four, Zheng/Chen also did the same way to outwit Japanese qualifier Watanabe/Higashino. The top-seed at twilight of their career when Zheng/Chen are upcoming star as they had collected three GP Gold titles in their tender age. China's regeneration in this discipline is running smoothly and the rivalry will be changed after Rio OG as some elite pairs would announce retirement. WS, Li Xuerui (CHN) v Sun Yu (CHN) H-2-H : 6-1 / WR : 3 v 15 The Olympic Champion almost lost second game as Porntip fought back to save 5 match point and forced deuce before Li sealed the semifinal tie. On paper scenario, Li will pick her second title in this year after GER Open GP Gold early March. Sun Yu had little trouble at first game against the less experienced Chen Yufei then she stamped authority in next game. It's back to back final for this 22 years old young lady after SIN Superseries last week but her world ranking is already passed by her talented younger compatriot He Bingjiao. The Youth Olympic Champion is China next big thing who soars into top twelve this week, thanks to her impressive performance lately. MS, Chen Long (CHN) v Lin Dan (CHN) H-2-H : 2-7 / WR : 1 v 3 The ideal final for home fans as their two outstanding players face off in last round, Chen Long needed three games to beat the left-hander Tanongsak Saensoombunsuk as Thai player stole second game then two-time world champion injected the pace at deciding game when the12th seed got tired and started to made uncharacteristic errors. The world badminton icon, Lin Dan gave his junior Lin Guipu a valuable lesson with superb skill, nice job for this 19 years old young man as someday he might be one of China leading MS. Last two meetings won by Chen Long when he displayed supreme form last year and it's tough challenge to defeat his illustrious and naturally gifted senior this time. It's still winless for world number one in 2016 while the two-time Olympic Champion topped All England podium also German Open as well, both players didn't displayed excellent outcome in last three Superseries tournaments, IND-MAS-SIN Open. They met 6 years ago in 2010 final at same venue when China Masters was part of 12 Superseries circuit. Lin had won this event five times (2005 inaugural edition, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2014) and Chen snatched the title twice (2011, 2012). WD, Luo Ying/Luo Yu (CHN) v Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan (CHN) H-2-H : 1-0 / WR : 7 v 13 Former world number one has slight advantage to retain their 2014 crown against the fast-rising Chen QC/Jia YF. The top-seed decimated Indonesian youngsters Haris/Sari while the two-time world junior champion weren't play full match as their opponent Huang DP/Zhong QX retired at early second game. After created big success in Dubai Finals end of last year, Luo twin sisters performance are still vurnerable, they need more ranking point desperately here to keep Olympic chance alive as Tang/Yu and Tian/Zhao have comfortable position at Race to Rio ranking. MD, Lee Yong Dae/Yoo Yeon Seong (KOR) v Kim Gi Jung/Kim Sa Rang (KOR) H-2-H : 6-2 / WR : 1 v 4 A best opportunity to win first title in this new season for Lee/Yoo, last time the world number one fulfilled their top billing was Hong Kong Superseries last November. They also had slow start in first quarter of 2015 when this top-ranked Korean pair nailed first crown in AUS Open end of May last year. The dynamic duo Lee/Yoo outclassed Chinese juniors Huang KX/Zheng SW in semifinal and two Kims dropped first game before bounced back in next two sets to overcome Japanese Kamura/Sonoda. The world number four won over their more favoured compatriot comfortably in MAS Premier semifinal two weeks ago and they succeeded to bag title there. Some BCers ask me to open new thread for the Finals so I shift my preview here Enjoy the final show
The guy in the quarter final against Lin Dan was seriously fast. But again, in the third game he ran out of steam.
To be honest, I won't expect too much of the Clash of The Titans, The GOAT vs The Dragon. It's good enough, a big bonus that they deign to cross swords, that in an ordinary tournament where little is at stake for them, except their egos, perhaps. For me, I'd supposed they just want to make use of this opportunity to test each other out, gauge the other's strengths and weasknesses, probe and feel as much as they could of each other's capabilities. No doubt, I suspect both would hold back quite a bit, not willing at this time to show all their cards just before their ultimate goal at Rio. Nevertheless, I'm sure we'll be entertained as we may never see another of their rare encounter in a GPG tournament. Thanks, CHN Masters 2016, for making it happen.
His name is Lu Guangzu, 19 years old, a nobody until his clash with Lin Dan, even taking a set off the master.
The XD clash - Experience versus Youthful Exuberance. I'm rooting for Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen. Go for it. JiaYou !
The problem for the junior pair is they train regularly with the senior pair who would be very familiar with their game. Let's see what the juniors can come out with.
In this regard. she is like He Bingjiao, but Chen Qingchen is already quite fast and aggressive. Still, shedding a few kilos may help, doing her much good.
Whose the commentator? Any idea? Quite slow, and has already praised MJ's interception skills a million times
I think the junior pair could use some coaching. Never mind, learn to think for themselves, good for them, be self-analytical and independent.
