I think VA is doing it wrong, pushing for crosscourt shots that would force him to scurry forward to cover the returns. CL with 6 gamepoints.

not sure about that, but he will be rich for sure.

but let's hope he doesn't let the $$ cover his vision tomorrow.

    Oh no.
After a good start, nothing worked for axelsen.
Cl doing what he does best. Consistent, quality shots... As soon as ax starts to give away easy points, he has a tough time to get them back...

How many points did LD lost in the third game by LCW anticipating his net play? Due to LD's inability to smash through, he has to play the net and became predictable.

Axelsen not used to big occasions. very nervous.

both players are the very consistent one, esp CL who rarely take risk but also at the same time, rarely make errors.

in order to beat him, either outplay (like LCW would), or out consistent. unfortunately VA is doing neither, too many mistakes and not fast/attacking enough.

if it continue this way, CL will take 2nd game easy and i will have to take out the earplugs.

He already has a lot of money. He wants the recognition among the 4 greats TH, PG, LD and be talked about long after he retires for good.
he wants this Olympic Gold to stamp his status.

CL looks like a guy that has been in this pressure cooker situation before while VA is all wide-eyed and bushy-tailed

Well, it's the Olympics. I have to realise that other aspects weight way more than what these guys are capable of playing wise....
Bc so far the quality except a few points is really not what I see in ssp or even WC...
AT least the first ms was nerve cracking in the end!
