2016 Yonex Open CHINESE TAIPEI GP Gold : Qualifying-FINALS (28th June-3rd July)

Wei Nan's rocket launcher a bit rusty in G2, I think he forgot to service it yesterday before coming on court today.

Lin Yu Hsien tried to do a CTC, keep the shuttle down, force the lift and jump smash it. Luckily, toward the end, Qiao Bin learnt how to counter it, appeared ready to challenge the net, anticipated better, and nailed the match in two straight sets.

Sun Yu disappoints, just when I thought she's getting there.

Wonder what's happening to her, leading most of the way in G2 and couldn't close it.

Wow in the end Chou Tien Chen won over VIncent in that MS match wow. Just wow. What a match. Watch that MS match myself. It was so intense. The score is 19-21 24-22 21-18. Amazing.

Managed to watch another XD match live. You know I like Reginald Lee Chun Hei / Chau Hoi Wah so much. So plan to watch their XD match live today thinking sure to win too. Surprisingly both have lost their match today 21-19, 19-21, 7-21. Wow just wow then it is none other to Tan Kian Meng / Lai Pei Jing. I am amazed now. How come such a good Hong Kong XD player can lose this match?

Is it Nitchaon Jindapon or Nitchaon Jindapol? I have seen both spellings.
She has improved a lot recently.

BTW, what happens if WSX wins this tournament? Will China select her for Rio?

I must honestly say that it is unfortunate for me to see only 3 Korean players advanced to play in the quarterfinals. Worse still all these 3 Korean players didn't win today and lose all their matches today. So that means no more Korean players playing tomorrow. But then I have learn to accept the facts. Lack of exposure to tournaments is never easy.

These players to be honest hardly have any chances to go out for tournaments I mean for this year. But of course I am heart broken to see no Korea players in the semi finals tomorrow. Honest who wouldn't be if all the players from your country have lost? But then I will give them more time. Perhaps by going out and play for more tournaments they will improve.

Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen turned the match around after dropping the 1st set to send the top seed Chan Peng Soon/Goh Liu Ying packing.

On the other hand I am so amazed by Chen Hung Lin / Wang Chi Lin performance. Despite playing in MD and XD doing double duties which is not easy, Both have won their MD match today and will play in the semi finals tomorrow. Amazing. Congratulations for playing so well to win the match today. I will never forget that MD match in the second round whereby they have won over the Korean MD players convincingly despite doing double duties. Thumbs up. Congratulations.

@Justin L

Zheng Siwei and both Chen Qingchen are really really talented players. I believe that both of them can really go go far provided that the Chinese Badminton Association must put pair them up with good young players. I believe that this is the best combination as of now for XD. Hope they won't keep changing partners anymore.

SEMIFINALS (12.00pm local time, 1 court) => http://www.tournamentsoftware.com/s...8E8E79-B91A-4FA1-8C34-501F773D9294&d=20160702

*Women's Doubles Semifinals
- Luo Ying/Luo Yu (CHN) v Chaladchalam Chayanit/Phataimas Muenwong (THA)
- Huang Dongping/Zhong Qianxin (CHN) v Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan (CHN)

It's no surprise as China women's doubles pairs are unstoppable and high possibility to create all Chinese final on Sunday. Top-seed and recent Dubai SS Finals champion Luo Ying/Luo Yu are expected to overcome Thailand young pair, Chayanit/Muenwong. The wolrd number 30 created biggest breakthrough in their badminton career so far to reach first ever semifinal in GP Gold level, they won two International challenge titles end of last year in Bangladesh and India. Chinese promising duo Chen QC/Jia YF advance into semifinal in convincing style and should pass their compatriot Huang DP/Zhong QX for final spot, the latter were pushed extra effort by INA combination Nuraidah/Pradipta at last eight.

*Men's Doubles Semifinals :
- Li Junhui/Liu Yuchen (CHN) v Lee Tseng Mu/Tsai Chia Hsin (TPE)
- Chen Hung Ling/Wang Chi Lin (TPE) v Huang Kaixiang/Zheng Siwei (CHN)

The top-half semifinal tie goes to scenario when top seed Li/Liu face former world top ten pair and third seed, Lee/Tsai for final berth. Both pairs had met once almost three years ago in Macau Open when the more experienced TPE pair won over the former world junior champion. Li/Liu had relatively comfortable path en route to last four whilst Lee/Tsai needed played three games twice at first round and quarterfinal stage. Another CHN-TPE affair in the other semifinal tie will see Huang/Zheng against Chen/Wang, the Chinese upcoming pair delivered an upset to knock out second seed and title contender Goh VS/Tan WK while local combination won over Indonesian youngsters Alfian/Ardianto in very close match.

*Women's Singles Semifinals :
- Wang Shixian (CHN) v He Bingjiao (CHN)
- Nichaon Jindapon (THA) v Tai Tzu Ying (TPE)

Nichaon Jindapon denies top four seeds meet each other at semifinal stage, she edged past the well-improved Sun Yu with identical scoreline, 21-19 / 21-19. Jindapon has uphill task to eliminate home favourite Tai Tzu Ying whom she had never beaten in four previous encounters. Current INA Premier champion Tai TY has tremendous transformation in her body figure, looks slimmer and fitter now. Wang Shixian will meet her younger teammate He Bingjiao after she disposed Chen Yufei in quarterfinal. Wang has unimpressive form lately as her world ranking plummeted to number eight and most likely will miss Olympic spot once again after London 2012, she's favoured to enter finale here.

*Men's Singles Semifinals :
- Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin (MAS) v Chou Tien Chen (TPE)
- Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk (THA) v Qiao Bin (CHN)

It's sad ending for Hong Kong men's singles shuttler here as Wei Nan and Vincent Wong Wing Ki failed to secure final ticket. Wong WK almost disappointed home fans when he led 19-15 in second game after won first set narrowly 21-19. Last year beaten finalist, Chou TC got second wind to survive and bounced back to take 24-22, the match ended 21-18 for local hopeful in 83 minutes pulsating duel, next the resurgent MAS Masters runner-up Zainuddin will waiting him tomorrow. The gruelling clash also involved Wei Nan v Tanongsak, HKG veteran couldn't maintain his good form in first game as the Thailand player performed more aggressive in next two games. World number 29 Tanongsak has Chinese second stringer Qiao Bin for a place in final.

*Mixed Doubles Semifinals :
- Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen (CHN) v Hafiz Faisal/Shella Devi Aulia (INA)
- Riky Widianto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja (INA) v Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing (MAS)

The unseeded Tan/Lai continue their fine run here to stun second seed Lee/Chau, former AUS Superseries winner wasted their chance to seal the tie before Malaysian pair overtook them to grab second set, 21-19 then a lopsided match happened at deciding game. China sensational young duo Zheng/Chen prove their big talent to oust top-seed Chan PS/Goh LY, the faster Chinese pair broke Chan/Goh solid defense with hard smashes and some deceptive shots that made recent NZL Open winner flat-footed several times. Two mixed doubles pairs will be Indonesia last hope in this tournament, Faisal/Aulia has dangerous Zheng/Chen while the unranked Widianto/Widjaja will challenge Tan/Lai.

LIVE TV (12.00pm) matches :

1) Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen (CHN) v Hafiz Faisal/Shella Devi Aulia (INA)
2) Tanongsak Saensomboonsuk (THA) v Qiao Bin (CHN)
3) Nichaon Jindapon (THA) v Tai Tzu Ying (TPE)
4) Riky Widianto/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja (INA) v Tan Kian Meng/Lai Pei Jing (MAS)
5) Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin (MAS) v Chou Tien Chen (TPE)

If Nichaon played like this yesterday, don't see how Sun Yu could lose to her, esp in G2. I even thought Sun Yu can overcome Tai TY to take the final.

Zheng Siwei/Chen Qingchen delivered as expected. And both of them will be playing their respective doubles later.
i am extremely extremely impressed by the display of Zheng Siwei / Chen Qingchen. At such a young are they have shown to the world what it takes to be a very successful XD. Congratulations. I love both of you. You are just so so good.

There is also another so so unexpected XD finalist for tomorrow. Wow another youngster junior Tan Kian Meng / Lai Pei Jing won their match today and will play in the finals tomorrow. What an unexpected outcome indeed. Honestly speaking I don't even know who they are but then to my surprise they won all their matches convincingly and will be playing in the finals tomorrow. Wow, amazing.
