A tidbit on hybrid stringing...

I have a customer using Exbolt 65 mains and Exbolt 63 in crosses, he seems to like it, he keeps requesting it, 25/27.5. Another customer didn't really like the mix. Unfortunately for me thet only speak Japanese and no Engrish so difficult for me to ask pros and cons. The guy using 65/63 is a slightly advanced player so my guess is that it is a pretty good combo to try. Hit and miss with some players.

Thoughts on exbolt 68 with exbolt 63 combo? Looking for a more durable aerobite like string. Aerobite boost feels dull and the hitting sound is meh.

AB Boost (.72mmstrings)/EXB68 28x 30

:D just for fun because the cross strings on the AB Boost broke.

Thoughts:
Very strange because the strings made my racket felt so heavy. It was probably because I was using a speedy racket (Apacs Lethal 8). A stiffer racket might work better?

I will string bg80 mains and aerobite cross @29&/27lbs
will see how this feels
just had enough aerobite over to do crosses with it and enough aerosonic for an entire racket so here we go;
apparently nobody tried this combination yet / wrote about it?

Did you try that combo yet?

Can't really compare Exbolt to Aerobite, Aerobite has a texture and is a hybrid 2 different strings, meant to kinda bite the shuttle help to slice, you are mentioning the same string in different guages, the same string construction.

The Exbolt 68 is kind of rough like BG80 so mixing Exb68 and the thin Exb63 could be similar idea

Late to the party, but just offering my go-to combination. I used to use Ashaway Zymax 66 Fire Power at 28lbs solely before combining it with Exbolt 63.

Ashaway on mains and Exbolt on cross.

What a combination! At 28lbs, I cannot fault anything about it. I'm an aggressive and attacking player, so constantly smash and drive. However when I need control and accuracy, it still performs like a dream! I play intensively 3-4 times per week with a mixture of plastics and feathers and the durability is insane considering the combination, IMO. I string my rackets approx. every 2.5-3 months and that's mostly because the strings start to cut into each other towards the end of their life or lose tension.

For reference, I use this combination on all my playable rackets: x2 Victor Thruster F (2019) and Victor Thruster FC (2022) and play doubles only at an advanced league-level.

I'd be interested to see others try this combination on their rackets at different tensions to see how it performs.

NBG99+Zymax 62 fire @ 28/30
I string my own rackets and have been using this combo for years.
I use Yonex flying clamps instead of the fixed clamps so they last 3-5 months.
It generates very good power and control.
Now I need to find a replacement for NBG99.😞

I think it would be really interesting to try BG65Ti x BG66F or Exbolt 65. I quite like Aerobite and I’ve tried a BG80/BG66U combo which has a good medium hard feel but the 66U still dies very quick.

Background: I play doubles 2-3 times per week, have been training on-and-off for ~7 years and compete at C-level. I have been stringing my own (and some friends’) racquets for over 2 years now.

After trying the default Aerobite Boost for many of my stringing jobs (and having loved it), I found that the Aerosonic crosses were the only ones I would break. So, as an experiment, I replaced the Aerosonic with Exbolt 63.

The resulting stringbed (27 lbs mains 30 lbs crosses Centre-Out Bottom-Up) sounds fantastic but not as pingy as with the Aerosonic. But it lasts almost twice as long and produces strong smashes as well as superb control.

The biggest drawback is the remaining Aerosonic from the Aerobite Boost reel that I don’t have any takers for and haven’t had the motivation to use for myself.

I haven’t tried this myself but strung this exact combination for a friend who has recently started training at beginner level and was looking to upgrade from his usual BG65 and BG65Ti without having to spend a lot more on strings. So, I could not recommend him anything too aggressive (repulsive but low durability). I cooked up this combination based on my experience using them separately on my racquets. He got hooked onto the BG65TixBG66F and even wants the same on his daughter’s racquet now (I hope her coach doesn’t find a target painted on my back. 🥲)

I've used the GT5/Zy62F combo based on the experience of some members here. Here are my thoughts on this combination. I've used this combination for almost a year on at least 3 rackets.

These are the rackets -
A77 pro ( slightly HH / EB, medium flex, 4u g5)
ARS 98k ( HL, very stiff, 4u g5)
Babolat x-feel essential ( EB, stiff, 4u g5)

String color
when playing with M350 is white for both mains and cross. Tension is 25*27
when playing with feather is orange (GT5) & white (Zy62F). Tension is 27*29

I have a Zy62F reel, while I buy packets of GT5 ( unable to fins a reel 😢, somebody please help me out ).

The quality of the string from the reel has been consistent so far. I've had mixed results with the GT5 packets. More often, I've observed that the GT5 string frays while stringing on the middle two strings either side of the shaft.

Is this a common occurrence on the GT5 or any other main string, thoughts?
Could it be a bad batch of the string or a mistake by the stringer that can be rectified with some advice. Please help 🙏

One more thing that I've seen through out the year with this combination is that my main string moves after a hard short and needs to be adjusted. Kinda annoying after a while. If there a near permanent fix for this?

IMO, I like this combo better than the standard offerings from Yonex (AB / ABB). I've tried GT5 & BG65-UM - didn't like this combo as much. Felt soft and nearly wrecked my shoulder trying too hard to hit hard. Probably my mindset was to blame for the poor show. I haven't tried this combo again.

Once my stringer made a mistake and strung the GT5 as a cross and Zy62F as a main. It was awful and I got rid of it the next day.

Any thoughts on my queries will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi have anyone tried BG80 x Exb65? If yes can you share how it feels? Thankyou
