Achilles pain

Hi,

lately I have some shoots of pain in my left Achilles when I push of. It comes and goes, sometimes it is away for multiple points or matches or weeks, sometimes it just comes and goes during rallies.
I replaced my shoes with exactly the same ones, but this didn't help.

Anyone having an idea what it could be (I know most of us arent medical educated), maybe someone has experience with it?
Is there a good stretch/good warming up exercise for it?

Regards!

Sorry to hear that you're dealing with some pain. Achilles pain is tricky - more often than not it's likely to do with your calves. Try tolling it out a bit and seeing how tight it is as well (if it's really painful when you roll it with a ball, very likely).

When it's not as flared up, I would recommend progressing with isometric calf raise holds -> eccentric calf raise holds (search on YouTube) - keep me updated!

Thanks Justin!
I guess it indeed has to do with stiff calves since they were like concrete.
Did some extensive calf stretch before my last practice on court and didnt feel the achilles at all.
Now again like concrete, so going to do a lot of rolling

That's great - after you get the soreness completely out, you'll still want to do some strengthening so it doesn't come back in the future :) Take care!
