great comeback for Gao/Huang. To be fair, a member of the Gao/Huang pair is a lot more 'warmed up' than Yang/Zhang
They won!! Yess!! I am happy for them. Congrat for Gao/Huang. Can you imagine to grab a title after 7 runner up in a row? (6 runner up last year and one this year) And of course this is probably the most title they want beside Olympic gold. And that made the 6 WD title in a row for Gao/Huang. They may not had Olympic gold but they sure are the queen of All England WD. Turn out today Gao mental strength is unbelievable. Huang too.
Gao/Huang takes 3rd set 15-2! ALL HAIL GAO LING! Oh Great One, we are not worthy of your power and your grace.
What a great ending to the AE. OK, not too comfortable with the chinese domination, but great badminton nevertheless. So, when is the next major tournament?
one more title of WD AE next year will make G/H having similar record as MS from Rudy Hartono of Indonesia (7 wins in a row).
For this year? The most important one is Thomas and Uber Cup in Japan, May 2006. But the qualification round for Thomas and Uber should be interesting toocause so many countries had improved specially in women teams.
I guess he's interested in individual opens, badminton is an individual game, it doesn't make any sense for team competition, it is not football. I'm interested in who's the best in the world, and don't care which 5 players with another 5 players.
but they train together, more like football than like tennis for example. the training is usually provided by the badminton associations and organisations and they would want some of the bragging rights as well and also a team event allows the whole team to win, rather than just 1 person-haha...and no match fixing claims against LYB
Gao Ling/Huang Sui, u r my idol!!! wot a GREAT comeback? esp. after Gao Ling played a 1.5hrs exciting XD final! itz too boring that Yang/Zhang winning Gao/Huang in every finals.. in the middle of 2nd set, everyone will think Gao/Huang will give up, but they didn't & show us an amazing come back! i can't stop myself cheering for them, although itz midnight already
Yeah 2nd game was a turning point & they started to relax & play really well. 3rd gme was great entertainment though. Gao/Huang started chatting to each other & looking like they where just enjoying themselves on a club night rather than a final. Huang fell back on her bum & defended 3 shots before picking herself up & eventually winning the rally. Yang lost interest for the last 5-6 points & the crowd was laughing as she was standing there flat-footed clearing any smashes & drops that came her way. when she had to rotate she'd not bother smashing it but stroll accross the court put a massive high clear. The last point she practically walked off the court before the rally was done. Great entertainment overall.
Review Watched almost the whole finals on tv, so: 1. MD - Lopsided. Only in the second half of the second set was it lopsided to the Malaysians' favour. Other than that, the Danes were dominant. A boring match to watch with many points coming from unforced errors. 2. XD - The first two sets were very good. In fact, the match of the final. Yet, the third set was a rout. Anti-climatic. Robertson should learn more about fighting spirit from the Chinese who refused to give up when facing numerous match points against them. 3. WS - Zhang Ning was not in it. Usually the final is the highlight of the WS event with the two masters pitted with each other. But, even if it streched to three sets, it was a downer for me. 4. MS - A rout. Lin Dan played much the same way as he did in the semis (the patient waiting game until he suddenly explodes into action). His defence is also almost impenetrable. 5. WD - A surprise really. It looked like Yang/Zhang were cruising when Gao/Huang came back strongly. The downside is that the rallies seem to go on forever. The defences are just so strong they should have no problems withstanding men's smashes.
maybe they always practise defence with "thunder" smashes from men, like Fu Hai Feng, so Fu practise on smashes and their women practise on defence
