Badminton club in Incheon City

Hi, I am new here. Is there any badminton club in Incheon City? I live near the BIT Zone subway station. Looking forward to meeting new friends here. Thanks! =)

Probably the closest club to you operates out of Songmyeong Elementary School (#8 on this list). They play in the evenings and have a 100,000won sign-up fee and 30,000 a month. #4 on the list is much farther but they apparently have 9 courts and run from 7-11PM. The high school that hosts it (Incheon Marine Science High School) has a top elite team, of which Kim Sa Rang is the most famous graduate.

As for public gyms, it's harder to find something close to you. Adan Badminton Gym isn't close but it's accessible by subway. Slightly closer is the Olympic Memorial Civic Center, which has a gym and a club that plays in the morning. Not sure if the gym is open for badminton other times. Those places' clubs are, respectively, #6 and #7 on this list.

Thanks a lot!! I prefer the Incheon Marine Science High School! Since that I cannot understand Korean on that website, is there any contact information (Kakao, facebook, etc.) from someone playing in that club? Thanks in advance!!!

Most of the websites in Korea will be written in Korean language. This cannot be avoided. :)

It will be difficult to get the contact number of information or contact number of those people playing there. I mean people won't simply just give their contact numbers online or publish it at the website.

@Terri Hong

Give me some time. I will get back to you later today. I will translate that website and summarize it for you from Korean language to English. Then I will try my best to translate other websites in Korean to English for you too. Wait for my good news today. :)

Yes, I understand. I just apply for a Kakao ID (TerriH1023). If someone could pick me, please add me there. =)

Is the scoring system different from the standard 21 points? I see the Korean clubs usually play to game points 25.
Is that true?

In Korean club play, it is rare to find a place where 3x21 is played. In the old scoring system, we played one game to 21 points. When it changed to the rally-point system, we moved to 31 points and again only one game. In the last few years, many gyms have insisted that be shortened to 25 points. Basically, the scoring system is the same but it has been deemed that one game to 21 is too short and that a best-of-3 match is too long. The thing is that recreational tournaments never have best of 3 games, either, so no one here has any firsthand experience with 3x21. Recreational tournaments can be even worse. To squeeze in all the games, they'll sometimes shorten the games even more and I've seen as short as 9 points with no extra points!

Thank you so much for the explanation. Cos I've watched many Korean club play video and was so confused with the scoring.
Now I understand. Kam Sa Ha Mi Da!
And I must add the level of play is very very high in Korea! Amazing.
In Singapore the recreation games are played to 21 only.
At amature tournaments 1 game of 21 is also used to determined the winner.
We also seldom or never will see 3x21 system unless at pro tournaments.

Hi all, quick question, do you know any group (advanced/semi elite group) playing regularly near incheon global campus area?

Hi everyone. Please excuse me if this is the wrong thread.
I will be in Seoul from 08 May to 20 May this year.
I have been playing for 15 years now and would say I have a good european level. I want to play against Korean Players. @blabl, do you know where I could inform myself to play in this time frame in Seoul? We are staying in Hongdae, but willing to go to whichever part of the city. I do not speak Korean unfortunately. Thanks.
