Hmmm, except that Watanabe Koki was in Team A. I presume that the fifth Team A slot will simply be eliminated, and that Obayashi and Watanabe will both find a spot on Team B. Momota sailed passed Kawamoto today, which means that both he and Obayashi will have a fight on their hands tomorrow, ...against each other.
Wow! National team selection as far as men's singles is concerned has become problematic. Having just completed R2, only two of the five Team A players are left standing: Momota and Nishimoto.
Yes, you are right. In my head, I have demoted Watanabe to Team B for at least a year now . I'm not sure if he can even stay on Team B with his performance this year (and last few years). I would rather have Takei on the team instead. I must admit that I am quite nervous for the match-up against Obayashi. Obayashi has been having the best year of his career so far. He should be full of confidence, whereas Momota is, well, probably at one of the lowest points in his career.
The NBA posted the Naraoka match from yesterday. It is 1h50m long and didn't even finish. Here's the link for those with enough patience to find out what happened :
Kurihara Akari may be able to stage an upset against Takahashi Asuka (Team A) tomorrow. Ohori Aya, on the other hand, is extremely lucky that she has no serious competition on her side of the draw. Barring any major problems, she should be able to reach the final and thus retain her Team A spot; ... not as though she will be able to do anything with it.
Ohori was at 37th on world ranking table. I'm afraid she will not enough point to sign in super tour 500+ next year. It's better for both side (individual and the team) if she's chose to play in team B, with super tour 300 and 500. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tomoka need to practice her strength (too skinny) It's too bad for Naraoka to have to play with such an injury for almost 2 hours Anyway, I think Momota will win tomorrow. Just Watched him playing. "Sharp"
Sad to see Miyazaki not make it through to the next round. Luckily for her, she is still young and has a lot of room for growth Sent from my Pixel 7 using Tapatalk
Yamashita/Shinoya were playing in MD, WD and XD. I doubt their stamina will not be enough for tomorrow.
Hatano Riku, Takahashi Koo, Obayashi Takuma, and Tanaka Yushi have pretty much secured their Team B spots. It remains to be seen whether Koga Minoru's international results for this year are good enough for him to keep his spot. At 26 and no potential to make Team A, it is probably best to give someone younger a chance instead. Tsuneyama, even with this blunder, will probably get to stay on Team A, thanks to his world ranking. The 3rd year high school students were meh, but the second years and Miyazaki Tomoka really gave the senior players a run for their money. Okimoto Yudai was so close to taking the match, and Yamakita Nao gave Gunji a serious scare. I don't know what this says about the current talent pool in Japan, but the future is looking just a bit brighter.
Takahashi Asuka is surprisingly consistent in domestic tournaments . Too bad she just can't convert it into international results. Nidaira's chance is not that great though, but let's see if she can make the team selection process more interesting.
hello, there was a problem with Nagahara and Matsumoto ? https://www.tcg-sports.live/web/birdscore/76alljapan/?category=WD What does キ mean in this case ?
Not sure what the problem was, but キ is an abbreviation for the word 棄権 (kiken), which means 'retired'.
Tomorrow's MS semi-finals will be played out amongst team-mates. Momota v. Tanaka (NTT-East) and Nishimoto v. Muramoto (JTEKT). It is interesting to note that the power-houses Tonami and BIPROGY are not represented in this category. One Team A casualty today were the MD pair of Koga/Saito, who were defeated by Yamashita/Midorikawa (of XD fame). Both Yamashita and Midorikawa will be playing twice tomorrow. They will be playing together as MDs, and facing each other on the opposite side of the court when it comes to mixed doubles.
