The 38th edition of Indonesia Open officially will kick off tomorrow, using only three courts to accomodate more space in Super 1000 event of BWF rebranding World Tour. First round will be splitted by two days, Tuesday (16th July) and Wednesday (17th July).

    TOUGH PATH AWAITS
Defending champion Kento Momota has bumpy road to repeat his victory in Istora Senayan, the Japanese poster boy is slated to face two home favourites en route to reach last round, Anthony Ginting and Jonatan Christie at quarters and semis respectively. Fully supported by very vocal and enthusiastic crowd, these two INA leading men's singles duo are expected to perform superbly following the rising trend lately, particularly by Christie to win back to back Super 300 tour in Oceania region. Lower-half of draw becomes weaken, last year beaten finalist Viktor Axelsen has withdrawn due to leg injury, leaving Shi Yu Qi, the Olympic Champion Chen Long and former champion Srikanth Kidambi standing as strong candidate to claim final spot.

TZU YING, YU FEI IN CHARGE
Women's singles queen Tai Tzu Ying is little bit dip of form, but she has found fine tune despite had shocking defeat in Sudirman Cup last May. She's seeking the third INA Open crown this week after tasted the glory in 2016 & 2018 edition. Her regular major threat will be started from quarterfinal round, Ratchanok Intanon then possibly Akane Yamaguchi and reigning All England Champion Chen Yu Fei in following round. Other notable names in the fray, Nozomi Okuhara, Pusarla Sindhu and He Bing Jiao. The last two names have modest result in first half of 2019, Sindhu reached semifinal in two Super 500 tournaments, IND and SGP Open while He BJ managed runner-up twice in New Delhi and Asian Championships.

    THREE NATIONS FOR DOUBLES FAVES
Men's doubles department is the best bet for host Indonesia to shine at home soil, spearheaded by Gideon/Sukamuljo, no less than five combinations including the rejuvenating veterans Ahsan/Setiawan. Japanese squad are the frontrunner to nail women's doubles crown and China will continue their winning track in mixed doubles with mighty world number one tandem Zheng SW/Huang YQ.

Li/Liu vs Chia/Soh match will begin shortly. I am interested to know the outcome of this result. Li/Liu won all of their matches against them. However, Chia/Soh always give them hard time. I am not surprised or even happy if Chia/Soh can win against Li/Liu. The first potential major upset is incoming.
