Santoso was not going to face LCW.
It was Boonsak Pontana (which is too far past his career peak to pose a threat to LCW anyway).
Then it's WZM and Jan O waiting in the quarters and semi.
----
I watched Jan O in practice up to the championships, I honestly think he's a contender for the gold. He seems to have moved his peak level a notch up, being able to play even faster and more attacking than usual. Physically he's as fit as ever (and usually he's in better shape than his opponents).
With no LD and KT in the field, and LCW and CL seemingly not at their very best, I feel this is Jan O's big chance to shine.
It will be exciting to see, if he can keep his composure - there's a lot of pressure and expectations on his shoulders for this tournament, something he's not use to cope with (at least not to this degree).
In CL's half, the absence of KT makes his path easier of course. But he'll probably face Zwiebler, Ouseph, Vittinghus and Sugiarto in his next matches - all good players but with the exception of Sugiarto, not players that really have a chance to go all the way. Personally I hope to see Sugiarto take down THW in the quarters, to avoid the as always questionable Chinese matchup in the semis. I feel Chen Long would have an easy match vs. THW if they are to meet.
