I think ZHENG/SANG gain extra advantage unfairly in the second set.The lineman have serveral wrong judge about base line ball.
That's bad, China has a reputation for biased line calls. Happened in 2002 Thomas Cup against Malaysia as well.
biased line calls not exclusive to the chn, i believe most home ground will have dat kinda 'advantage'.
Gade defeat XIEXIN(CHN) easily!Tomorrow he will challenge ChenHong. Once Xiexin defeat BOESEN Anders in the last china open.
I did not see it in World Champs (6* also) or in any of the All England, even while host is playing. Singapore, Malaysian opens this year were also quite free of bad calls. I am not sure about the recently concluded Hong Kong and Taiwan Opens. If you watched the semis between Malaysia and China last year, you will know what I mean. It happened during Choong Hann Vs XXZ, Hafiz Vs Bao and Choong/Lee Vs China Pair. It was a disgrace.
But I think korean linemen is the most horrific! They are too "patriotic" than any other country linemen.
Well i think most people are patriotic weather they are from korea , malaysia , china , indonesia etc... Anyway i'm sure they are professional linesman. If the player don't like them when they made a bad call.. they can be changed during the game.
Well, I have a different opinion here. If you really love your country, you should let your contry men losing gracefully instead of winning ugly.
I said the truth. If you have watched the asia games held in koren, you will agree with me. I don't take sides chinese linemen.I am disappointed at the wrong judge. But It is me told you "ZHENG/SANG gain extra advantage unfairly in the second set".Can you think I would nepotism?
What I heard is that they are not professional linesmen in most tournments. These linemen are voluntary workers receiving a small reward just like the people selected in the Jury.
Sorry, I just don't have a fixed location. I am flying around most of the time. I should belong to somewhere between here and there. Why you are so angry with what I said. Anything wrong? Please pointed out. Everyone comes here for fun instead of getting pissed of. SmartCivet, if what you said was true, that linesmen had made mistakes on purpose, that would not be a "patriotic" behavior. It had nothing to do with Korean's linesmen either. Korean can ruin their reputation, but we Chinese DON'T!!! So next time, don't speculate things, please, otherwise, you'll get pissed of again.
Qidong is correct. Normally the linesmen all the way to the semis are voluntary. Some country used them (voluntaries) for semis as well. The umpires are paid a stipend but are trained and certified umpires; they are normally locals of the organising country. In the finals, the umpires for the earlier matches mentioned here switched to become linesperson. The umpire for finals are professionals from nearby countries but are on IBF's list. That's why we tend to see the same few umpires in every finals of Opens. Whilst most voluntary linespersons are basically neutral, it is rather difficult to remain neutral when your countrymen/women are playing. On another front, I totally agreed with 2cents' statement. If you lose, lose it fairly rather than wining by trickery. There is no glory in such victory; especially when the whole badminton world can see that the victory is aided by your "friendly" countrymen/women as linespersons.
Exactly, different people view things from different angles, don't blame linesmen groundlessly anymore. SmartCivet, it's ok to speculate things in your mind, but don't spread out without evidence!
That's all right.I am never angry more than 5 minutes. I don't want to discuss about linemen.Maybe that is only my speculation indeed. I think that is only an episode in the match between ZHENG/SANG and ERIKSEN/LUNDGAARD HANSEN.Each time they meet, they offer us a tough but wonderful match.I enjoy it!
