Prannoy for sure. The first two sets of yesterdays semi-final was a treat to watch. Prannoy had the upper hand very much in the second set and let that opportunity slip. Also i think Lee Zi Jia can match Axelsen.

Momota. Even considering his poor form.

Lets see what the draw for MS will be in the WC, VA might get a good draw or he may face some bogeyman players like Prannoy and Loh Kean Yew

There will be lots of netizen INA complaints when Ginting/JC doesnt do well next year.

but to me, this is prolly INA best season (since SS era). 2titles+3RU so far +1 AsianChamp. So its 3+3. Any year they have done better? Of course the year isnt over yet. Even an All INA Final happen this year which prolly doesnt happen very often for any nationals.

Should cherish it while they are still young.

I never thought there would ever be another player I would enjoy watching as much as Setiawan. But Watanabe actually comes close. An absolute Genius. Others might win the big titles, but he is pure Badminton Magic

In recent times post Covid,, VA has lost to LZJ, NTY, LKY and KV. I think he dread meeting most is LJZ but the latter and LKY, almost always exit in the 1st round. And NTY is a one hit wonder.

So it is KV he should take note of.

Yes. Prannoy should have finished it in 2. He is the only one who can win this current Viktor. He did it twice last 2 years . Unfortunately, prannoy could not do that this time even after having huge point difference during starting of 2nd game. If you see the road to final of Viktor, and if you notice how he slaughtered his opponents, you may know how good prannoy was . Even Steen was talking GC about Prannoy and he used Prannoy as ' Intelligent player'. But he is 31 now. More or less his career is over after this Olympics. Unfortunate. He started getting professional training after 17 . Late bloomer. Hope he wins a medal at Olympics before retirement.

Absolutely. Agree with everything. 31 isn't a too old to be honest. Lin Dan and Lee Chong Wei continued till they were 37. Chou Tien Chen (another guy who i think can challenge Viktor if he mentally wants) is 35+ and is still decent, just that he is lackadaisical at times.

To be honest, Prannoy was dominating Viktor for the first two sets. As you said correctly he shouldn't have relaxed after being 5-0 up in the second set. Golden chance gone :( :(

Prannoy isn't too old. Viktor isn't much younger, he will be 30 in the beginning of 2024. Prannoy should be able to play until 2028

2-3 yrs ago she was a teenager. yes, an obvious up and coming star, but, what exactly were you expecting from a player at that age?

wang chi-lin appears back to full health which is great to see.

also, yuta watanabe is finally looking 100% again... the single most exciting player in the game today.

in a past interview yuta himself stated at this point of his life it's too much time and energy to start from the bottom in md. he'd have to start over like momota did post suspension.

yuta has zero md points to get a notional ranking so imagine having to collect points by traveling to ic & wt 100 level tournaments in addition to the wt 500+ tourneys for xd.

    notional ranking calculator: https://bwf.tournamentsoftware.com/ranking/notionalranking.aspx?rid=70

pairing w/ yugo kobayashi would rank them 44th, which means they would not get into wt 750/1000's. they would have to qualify for wt 300/500 and win them right away. if they don't win their first wt 300/500 tournaments right away their notional ranking would fall off a cliff and send them back to ic/wt 100's. it's simply not worth the time and effort.
