Denmark Open 2004 results

Jonas and Lars are 1 up and 7-6 in the second, Lars has the touch today and is placing his shots very well.

Game over Lars and Jonas won in 2, 15-10, 15-9.

I think Lars got changed in a phone booth today into his Super Lars outfit (sponsored by Yonex of course) :D

I don't think they broke a sweat.

Yes!! I think it's gonna be interesting too with both players having to prove themselves after the Olympic episode...But isn't LD very lucky?? Having two w/o consecutively..he has the advantage compared to the older XXZ

lets see if XXZ can overcome this adversity and then maybe we can put him in our BF legendary player list ;)

Unless Danish players all trained too much, like what Korean players did in one World championship in new century, more than half of Korean team withdraw due to injury, I would guess(have not seen the games) it is because they both wanted to cope with Lin Dan's physical demanding superfast play, while both KJ and AB are not quick and flexible players like Taufik Hidayat.

It is always a pity to see professionals retiring from a match because of injury, largely self-inflicted unfortunately.

The Danish players who got injured are no mean players, great names having acquitted themselves so well in the past.

Whilst it is difficult to pinpoint at this stage what really has gone wrong, whether it is due to over-training, lack of preparation, trying too hard during a rally, being pushed to the extreme by an opponent, playing in too many tournaments within too short a period, etc, it still has to relate to the fitness of the player, whether physical or mental.

By failing himself during a match and retiring without being able to complete it, the professional is also failing his fans, the other players and the paying public. Can you recall how some players 'feint' injury, or that the injury is not serious, so as to allow their compatriots to advance to the next stage of an important competition?

Ideally, if a player is not thoroughly prepared, he or she should not, or be forced to, participate. The professionals hope to win especailly when the prize money is good, it is their livelihood, but they should be honest with themselves. A serious injury will only make matters worse for themselves as Peter Gade had experienced before. After he has recovered, he needs to restart his career by having to qualify for the major events as he has not been able to earn points during his absence.

Live in Singapore

Well, what do you know, the Denmark Open 2004 Finals will come to us live in Singapore (I guess Malaysia and Hong Kong as well) on Ch 22 at 9 pm, Singapore time, by courtesy of SuperSports.

We may yet see Camilla Martin receiving an encore and farewell presentation which she so richly deserves as the undisputable Queen of Europe.

So Singapore, Malaysian and HK BFers, don't miss the fireworks and come armed with your recording devices to ensure you can repeat, hopefully, some of the best matches, especially between the Chinese players and JR/Lars of course! :)

Could somebody record the farewell presentation and put it on the internet?
It would be great for people who can't watch it.
