Dont go to Bacon's College on Thursday night if...

I was told there was one club playing there and I went there to ask for the contact number from the receptionist but no contact number available. The receptionist suggested I just turned up on Thursday night.

I did. I was asked who invited me and my answer was none. The club then said sorry members or guests invited by members only. There were about 11 people playing in four courts but I was even not allowed to play for that night and had to go back frustratedly.It seems they dont accept new players and they dont leave a contact number or email.

I know there are some people around like me looking for some places to play. Just remind all not to go there on Thursday night if you are not invited. You will waste your time then.

Btw, most of the players at that moment are blatantly below my level, so no regrets :p, true reflection and no offense

You can come to the Wednesday session (8-11). Its an open session (5 pounds) or membership (come ask)

Winter - come and play on tuesdays too hahaha
tuesday starts at 7:00 - till we get chucked out - around 10:30 - 11.
anyone is welcome to come play - standard varies.
but wed is a better standard and less people too...

Hey there,

Would it be ok if I came along to play? Should I know anyones name before I go or can I turn up and play - who do I speak to when I get there and where exactly is it? I may come on tuesday if that is ok.

sure you are more than welcome to come along to play.
the address is Bacon's CollegeTimber Pond Road, Rotherhithe,London,SE16 6AT and we start at 7pm its £5 to play.

ask for MD thats me - i run tuesdays - or if you want to come and play on wednesdays ask for Nhita. you are welcome to come and play on both days.

Why not tell me earlier? :) I play currently in Finsbury Park on Tuesday night. I'll probably pop up some Tuesday night and be happy to meet you there.

yeah sorry - i didn't know until recently - a friend pointed out your post to me. so i replied straight away haha as did EK ...
but yeah you are more than welcome to come tuesday or wednesday. i don't know where you live but there will be a club in waverley - (EK's club origonally) that play on thursdays if you are looking for another day to play.
let me know if you are interested i'll send you the details to that too..

hey Banzaidrew,
you are welcome to come and play - i must say though - sometimes it gets a little busy and we only have four courts. although sometimes its ok - hit and miss really.
but either way you are welcome.

Hi MD

One of my work colleagues and her partner have recently moved to the London and are looking for a badminton club to play at. They used to play at a club in Bristol and are both of a reasonable standard and asked me if I knew of anywhere they could play.

I wanted to know if the badminton club still meets at Bacons college on a Tuesday and Wednesday, and if it was still open to new members?

Yes, we do still play on tuesdays and wednesdays,
and you are more than welcome to tell your colleagues know about the club.
tuesdays is more a social club - with mixed standard whereas wednesdays is a just about badminton, the standard on wednesday is club to county level.
my advice will be to come try it out on tuesdays and if they are too good that they are bored, then i will tell them to play on wednesdays.
I know the club on wednesdays likes to maintain a certain level of play.

I have a few friends who go on Thursday but even I couldn't go. They said it was members only.

Regarding Tuesdays and Wednesday. I understand that Wednesday is for the more advanced so I would be very interested in comming one Tuesday to check it out.

So all I have to do is ask for MD? £5 right? I guess you provide shuttles, are the plastic or feathers
