    You have struck a good comparison, drifit

    In a way, you have struck a good comparison, drifit. :D:D:D

    It's like when children 10-12 not wishing to move up into the next age group 13-15 after winning (as time goes by). Why? Because they have the chance to win in the 10-12 category again if they don't move upwards. :eek::eek::eek:

    Because in many countries people never attain a high level and still wish to enjoy tournaments. Age group only tournaments are ok for developing players and higher levels, but for the general public competitors is fairly limiting.

    Hit the nail on its head. The graded tournaments in Victoria are great. It provided an avenue where the general public can enjoy a touch of competition. However, many of the younglings take these competitions far too seriously and they felt that they are very good. So, once a while, people like the infamous duo are needed to put some perspective on these younglings. If they are not able to suck it up, then too bad. But, if these younglings are able and good in attitude, they will take this as a lesson. they will work and train harder. If by getting beaten and then lose interest, how to progress?

    Grades make a lot of sense, from my observations:
    Open grade - mainly for state and national players/high skill and super fit players
    A grade - mainly for people who train, have good skill just a bit less power
    B grade - those who have average skills and average power
    C grade - poor skills but fit and average power
    D grade - poor skills and no power, usually unfit

    As you can see Vien and I fit easily into D grade!! Then the Veterans start at age 35 and that is a whole different type of tournament.

    and another good point N4ruto raised, there are so many juniors which take tournaments so serious and give very bad attitude to everyone. Either the parents or coaches are to blame, but they think they are hotsh1t, refuse to be courteous and act like Lin Dan! It takes some old men to cut them down to size, either they learn and develop character from their defeat, or they never progress.

    Sandbagging is my civic duty to aid the young players of our State:D:D:D

    Quoting Robbo, "Sandbagging is my civic duty to aid the young players of our State" Could not have said it better. Imagine the hurt and humiliation of people like Robbo and Vien to go below their grades in order to improve Victoria badminton at the grassroot level. They should be given due credit for that! Also, on a different note, it will help distinguish dodgy coaches who are just coaching for the sake of monetary gain and not the overall improvement of the players.

    But you need to understand that when the same players keep winning the same graded trophies and boasting about them, then you can understand what their intentions are.

    As I have mentioned in Post #38, tournament organisers know these sandbaggers who do it intentionally to openly brag about "beating the system". That's why I mentioned to drifit;

    ok. this thread will be locked.

    you two clubs need to learn how to get along. badminton players should be working together to promote the sport instead of in-fighting among us which will eventually erode the sports itself.

    any attempt to revive this issue, or any attempt of anyone from either club trying to offend the other club, in any way or manner, for whatever reason, will result in immediate ban from us.
