Bella, haha. same here. black right toe, and black left 2nd toe! :)

i have tried various shoe width, i started with Adrenaline Pros, those were a little bit narrow for my feet, i had black nails then. and then now i am wearing Yonex SHB95, still, black nails. i have had black toe nails for as far back as i remember. perhaps it is just my technique... :)

Try making the laces tighter near the front of the shoe (not too tight) and add an extra insole. This could stop the foot from sliding around in the shoe. I did this and I haven't whacked my toenails recently.

    UkPlayer,

i have tried the lace. doesn't work for me.

the inner sole does seem to make sense, thanks for the suggestion. i will go and look for one with more traction. i also wonder if trying different socks would help. any suggestion there?

Thicker socks may help, but there's only so much thickness to be gained. You can wear 2 pairs, but I don't like this as it's not good for releasing the moisture from sweaty feet.

So that leaves the insole to make things tighter. It's a double winner if you get a good thick shock absorbing insole like Sorbothane Double Strike. My SHB 95's with those in them take out a huge amount of impact. It's just a shame I have to switch to the 55's because the graphite plate is no good for my feet. Ah well.

Not sure socks will make a difference to traction but a good pair of insoles will.

    UKP,

i was actually thinking about the traction between the sock and the bottom of my feet. during a hot sweaty day, i sometimes feel that there are more perspiration inside my foot than i feel comfortable.

perhaps a change of socks would be the solution, but that's not always an option in the middle of an intense game.... :)
