I just hope the Chinese team coaches will see the light and realize that there's more to XD doubles then just the conservative men back-court and women front-court routine. They gotta try to train their players to be more dynamic in their rotation and gameplay, and this Japanese pair is the perfect example. I really look forward to this Japanese pair's next encounter with Zheng/Huang pair. If Huang is able to train herself to be more explosive to equal arisa's aggressiveness, the Chinese XD pair will definitely be more lethal against any upcoming XD pairs.
Somehow can't imagine how Huang can suddenly learn how to jump smash. Also I think the Chinese team doesn't have any left right XD combinations to practice nor develop any strategies against.
Yea, I agree. As much as I want it to happen, I'm sure I'm not going to see it any time soon. I don't think Huang will have the stamina with her physique to sustain too many jump smashes in a match even if they train her on jump smashes. She seems tired out doing interceptions already . Well, time for them to whip out that treasury fund to offer sign-on bonuses for new talented players countrywide to serve their country .
I believe one advantage arisa has that's why she can perform impressive jump smashes are her amazonian legs. Her beefy legs help her a lot in being quick in court and jumping up and down like a deadly grasshoper with a badminton racket and a mission to win☺ Sent from my SM-J320F using Tapatalk
CQc is quite dynamic in court too but she lacks the killer instinct of arisa in my opinion Sent from my SM-J320F using Tapatalk
Chen Qing Chen is a dynamic and more aggressive player than Huang YaQiong. I have seen her jump smash in her matches, but very rarely. She's definitely not like arisa's grasshopper playstyle . IMO, CQC does have the killer instinct like arisa, but she just lacks that killer touch . Arisa definitely has jump smashes that can rival many male players. If the Chinese team can't add new blood to their team, I do fear for their future in the badminton arena. Since XD is currently the only discipline they can strongly compete in. We all know that 2018 is not a good start for the Chinese team in any other disciplines .
I mean yes Arisa has got a great jump smash but I think the magic lies in her wrists! Her smashes are more Lin Dan type rather than Lee Chong Wei type.
I don't see why they would think that at all. Whether it's Huang YaQiong or Chen QingChen, the 'traditional' style showed complete dominance. The one 'lucky' result is unlikely to change their opinion, and if it does, the remedy will be to find a specific strategy for the offending pair (much like I'm sure ZN trained specifically to be Chris Adcock), and not to revamp the nation's XD playing style.
Has anybody noticed the difference in size of Yuta's right arm and left arm? It's way more pronounced for him. It is almost as if that arm belonged to another body
I am keeping more surprise from Watanabe, even more after his double debut with Sonoda. Sure he was already a mark in Japanese badminton with the win in AE. Better keep an eye on him! I didn't know that he played singles before. No wonder the stamina and consistent footwork.
You maybe correct and that was really like a pop-eye odd case At least 2 more picts would sort of prove your claim: Just look at the more pronounced veins and somewhat more muscular left arm.
Regarding his forearm that is indeed quite odd. He might have been training super hard to get more power for XD given his is a smaller frame and focussed only on improving his badminton with no worry on looks. I'm not saying he is a Kevin. But but but he has been doing some pretty darn creative shot in that match against Li/Liu.
Something I forgot to mention ... I mean not sure if this counts for every Japanese players. But I still find it amazing how Watanabe was be able to play good shots when his racket was broken (not only the strings). I do see now and then, pros being be able to return shots with broken strings. I think it was this match.
I'm so looking forward to seeing more of these two. What Arisa Higashino is doing on court is just a joy to watch: The look on Chris Adcock's face at 1:29 says it all I would say.
@s_mair Totally! I can't wait to see them again. Having said that, I also wanna see Yuta in MD playing front court!!! He has Kevin's vibe in him!
