Another amazing finale as the veterans managed to beat Fu Haifeng/Cai Yun 22-20 in a thrilling rubber set. The points were really tight from the beginning and both pairs never allow the opponent to edge ahead. Choong/Lee had 2 match points and took the second one. Fu/Cai looked disappointed but well...you can say that Malaysian pairs really had a grip over the Chinese pairs esp since Fu/Cai have lost mostly to Malaysian pairs nowadays. They lost to Mohd Fairuzizuan/Lin in last year's WC, to Chan Chong Ming/Koo Kien Keat in the Malaysia Open semi-final and now to Choong Tan Fook/Lee Wan Wah in the Hong Kong Open semi-final. Well done Malaysia! Rexy will be proud of you! Tomorrow's final between Kido/Hendra and Choong/Lee is again going to exciting, but Kido/Hendra had a bad record against Choong/Lee
Wow...it is fantastic...LCW and the CTF/LWW..You make Malaysia proud...Well done..Continue with your good job..Oh no..Getting to high and can't sleep...Ha..ha..FHF/CY are finally beatable

Wow, congratulations to Choong/Lee! I had thought they are too old to keep exerting enough pressure on Cai/Fu... Yes Malay pairs beated Cai/Fu most these days... I guess because Malay pairs have better offense than Indo pairs now. And Cai/Fu's defence is really flawed. On correction: Fairuzizuan/Lin beated Cai/Fu in 06 AE, Chan/Koo beated Cai/Fu in both 05 WC and 06 Malay Open.
Wow an amazing night for the Malaysian...down so easily in the first set and claw back to be in the finals....and I am hoping for a double tomorrow
All the best If LCW and Choong/Lee manage to win Saturday then our long weekend Merdeka day will be a memorable one else will be another heart breaking like many many previous encounters. Choong/Lee have an edge over the young Indonesian pairs which really worries me as the Malaysians usually under perform when they're the favourite :crying: As for Lee Chong Wei, as long as he can maintain his level like the Macau Open Final then I think he stands a fair chance to win. 1:30pm Final in Hong Kong is about 10pm US PST, man, only few more hours to go ...
I had to leave before the 3rd set of the last men doubles. Sad to hear that FHF/CY are out >< (seeing how they breezed thru the mas team in the 1st set...) When I left I saw LCW down in the lobby chatting with his coach, was a bit shy to say CONGRATULATIONS to him... so I just smiled at him and went away...sigh... On a side note, I saw Tine Rasmussen in the Admiralty MTR station and she was in her red mini skirt... @o@ (already at 6:45 anyway...she's almost late I guess) Her height and her hot look made her stand out in the crowd SO MUCH. XDD
Two rabbit of of hat pulling magic tricks by MAS players. Maybe this signals a change in MAS players' mental strength. One test coming up is tomorrow. Can MAS win both titles?
With their 3-1 head-to-head record in favor of Lee/Choong vs. Fu/Cai, i wasn't surprised by the result. I mean it could've gone either way. Hmm, i believe Jens Eriksen & Martin Lundgard Hansen beat Fu/Cai in last yr's S'pore Open in straight sets. I was there to witness the match, as it was one of the last one of the day. The match was tight thruout, but at the end it seemed like the CHN pair made a few more errors than the Danes. Of course those 2 pairs met in subsequent tourneys with different results. So, it seems like the pairs that have given Fu/Cai a "challenge", win or lose, are those with many yrs of experiences (ie. Lee/Choong, Tony/Candra, Sigit/Candra, Jens/Martin)... Of course, the INA pair of Kido/Setiawan won their sole encounter vs. Fu/Cai 2 yrs ago(as noted earlier in another thread)..
Wow, must be some thrilling Semifinals actions(at least on web broadcast) aih, just found out abt the results this morning, couldn't catch the actions earlier this morning online... Congrats again to all the Finalists->Wow, must be one heck of a Semifinal Day, with so many very entertaining matches..Wow, you guys must've enjoyed the matches heh??The atmosphere must've been like the Finals.. Definitely the crowds watching in the QES must be thrilled they've finally got their monies' worth after yesterday's incident-good for them!.. Anyways, the posts here have provided enough info and tidbits of the actions.. -Noticed, while reading the posts, in the KJ vs. LD match, a similar thing happened like what occurred the previous day with TH. Wow, must be quite disturbing and it was on practically the match point. Boy, i was thinking, if KJ had lost the 1st set and he was in that situation, he *could* also do a Taufik and walk away from the match... -The match between LCW and CJ also must be a nerve-wrecking affair. Close one and could've gone either way. But the luck this time was on LCW's side. -And last the MD match between LWW/CTF vs. FHF/CY. Wow, another barn-burner. I'm almost speechless just reading the posts, let alone watching it. Now, looking fw to the Finals Day and hope i can catch the actions this time..sigh
that's an understatement! one could see the sweat evaporating from him! that was in by "10 miles" - i really don't see how the linesman missed that (must be a LD fan). fortunately he was replaced, and rightfully so. i was really rooting for Dane too.....
hmm, if the shot was "in by 10 miles" and the linesman *didn't change the call right away*, then there's really something ridiculous going on And replacing him was definitely the appropriate action..
watched the match just now. that call is so dear and it is definaltely in. I will definately cheer him up in WC.
Before Lin Dan actually looked at the linesman, he KNEW that the shuttle was in and he wanted to throw the shuttle back to KJ. And then later when he got to know that the linesmen called it out, he just let it be. LD was "smart" but dishonest :\
