Prannoy is playing korea open. Yes. It indicates that he doesn't need to play selection trials. Because remaining players(between 15 to 20) are withdrawn from korea open.
Note: prannoy lost in round 1 of korea open

Malvika Bansod has improved her speed and power. But still not enough. From what i observed from the match,
    1) Malvika has beautiful deceptive strokes which makes the opponent guessing till the last moment .
2). She makes lots of mistakes . She was having huge lead in both the games but after making so many mistakes let her opponent equalize the score.
    3) Very good at net and She constructs rallies brilliantly and does a deceptive drop shot at any point of the rally which makes the opponent bend so many times which makes them tired easily.,
    4) HanYu at one point of time, decided to get easy points instead of going for Rallies that's why she made so many errors. I say it is forced because of Bansod's beautiful stroke play.
    5) Bansod is good in guessing. I never felt at any point of time that she looked stranded by Han Yu's shots whereas HanYu was struggling to predict the shots from Bansod all the time.
    6) Bansod's stamina has improved. In one of the long rallies, Han Yu was the one who benddoubled after the rally whereas Bansod is seen walking normally after the rally.
    7) If Bansod improves her shot selection even further, she will go far in her career.
    8) I am just cautious as i never mentioned her name in 3 future faces of Indian Badminton, i still give her benefit of doubt. I wanna see her play Pornapowee tomorrow in Korea Open and then i wanna talk about her play. Pornapowee is not Han Yu. She can go on and on in rallies.

A BAI source told PTI, “Saina has written a letter to BAI informing her about her decision not to participate in the trial. This is the only tournament for team selection for Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and Uber Cup. The Commonwealth Games team will consist of 10 members with equal number of male and female players. The contingent for the Asian Games and the Thomas and Uber Cup will have 20 members, with 10 men and 10 women.
BAI has made it clear that the top 15 players will get direct entry in the BWF rankings while the rest of the players will be selected through trials. Players ranked from 16 to 50 in the world rankings released on March 29 will take part in the trials. BAI will also finalize the probables for the senior core group for the 2024 Olympic Games during the trials.

Saina Nehwal’s chances of defending her title at the Commonwealth Games look bleak as she has decided not to participate in the selection trials. The selection trials for the Commonwealth Games to be held in Birmingham and the Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou will be held from April 15 to 20. Born in Hisar, the 32-year-old two-time Commonwealth Games champion and London Olympics 2012 bronze medalist has informed the Badminton Association of India (BAI) about her decision not to participate in the trials.

See, I kinda was expecting it. She will have to swallow too much of her ego to participate in the trials. She feels entitled! Hope BAI hold their stand

I accept. I firmly do. I feel they are sticking with their careers just for some relevance in public life. And, as you can see, they keep proving my hypothesis correct

    https://www.espn.in/badminton/story...hwal-skip-2022-commonwealth-games-asian-games

Here are the excerpts from the interview where she outlined her reasons not to participate:

"Trials [to be held this week] at this point make no sense really," Saina told ESPN on Tuesday. "The Asian Games is still five months away. Two weeks after Europe tournaments and a week and a half before the Asian Championships, I didn't want to put my body through another set of matches. I can't take that chance. It's okay if other players are considered good enough and more deserving than I am. I have no problem."

"I skipped the Korea tournaments so I could prepare for the Asian Championships later this month," Saina said. "In the middle of a busy stretch of tournaments, sudden trials do seem like a way of creating unnecessary pressure. I've had good results at the Games in the past but it's not that I'm emotional about it. I just want to give all I have at whichever tournament I play next and do well for my country. That's my simple target."

Here is what her husband had to say-

“She didn't even receive the circular about the trials. I had to show it to her. There's been absolutely no effort from the federation to even reach out to Saina. It's unfortunate that someone who's won so many medals for the country is being treated so shabbily today."

I feel for Saina and understand the hurt and pain she is going through. But this is a situation all players have to face nearing retirement or when they are out of form. The only player exempted from the trials on good performances was HS Prannoy.
Because of the packed calendar this is the only window to hold trials. It's not possible to have trials before the Asian Games.

Do you still feel for her? See how arrogant, and entitled she is
    [IMG]
We all know what her ranking would be if the rankings are unfrozen today. See how she gaslights the general public about her one out of blue close match against AY, without mentioning all her uneventful losses against less fancied opponents this year. Her behavior is appalling

Yes, I still feel for Saina. I am not going to defend her words or attitude. I have already made clear that I welcome the selection trials and that no player can take their place for granted. I support all Indian players.
