8:40 "Nobody supports anybody. There is no unity."
Very true. Especially when PVS is mentioned to SN or KS to PK or PG/SR to JG/AP.... Its such a shame that SN and PVS never exchange notes on opponents.

Just read all this talk going on in this page about Jwala.
And I am not sure I understand the whole situation. Who makes this list, and what benefits do players in the top-scheme get?

I feel there is a miscommunication somewhere. For example Mr.Akhilesh says Jwala was given doubles coaches in Lucknow, to which Jwala says that he does not know the whole situation.

Singles players generally get better treatment than doubles. This is true of any sport, and the vast majority of places in the world. But even so, the inclusion of Gurusaidutt over Jwala-Ashwini is a bit surprising if one looks at the rankings.
As for Guru, he was out injured for a while and performed well in the recent India Open SS. That is possibly the only reason he was included. It is true though that Jwala-Ashwini are not performing well over the last 8-10 months. But if it is because of lack of support, it must be looked after.

Doubles in India definitely need more attention.

SAI compiled the list (officially independently), although JG alleges BAI and Gopi compiled it for badminton.

That's true in modern day tennis (since 1990), not true in badminton. Till 2011, doubles' winner share was .3% higher infact.

    I don't agree to that.
Show me one doubles pair that is more popular than a singles player of equal ranking and achievement!
There are a lot of reason why doubles can't compete with singles. More people prefer singles than doubles.

Don't forget that the doubles award is shared by 2 partners.
So the actual prize money is only a little more than half of a singles .

LYD must be more popular in Korea than SWH (guess).
Zhao Yunlei has definitely achieved more than WY, LXR and WSX and also out-earned all three of them.
Lilyana Natsir surely is the most popular active femal badminton player in Indonesia.
Joachim Fisher is more popular than JoJ.

In tennis Bryans and Williamses surely were more popular than the Wozniackis and the Rioses.

I forgot the Adcocks, Blair/Bankier and other British pairs who are more popular than the Rajiv Ousephs and the Kristy Gilmours.
I would say that has been true in Britain since Tracey Hallam's retirement.

I think you are guessing for the most part.
Liliyana Natsir is only popular because there isn't any equivalent singles player in INA. Even now Susi Susanti is more popular than Liliyana.

When I see ads of Yonex or such, they usually feature singles players.

That will be true in 2115 as well.
Isn't Prakash more popular than Saina or Srikanth?

Anyways we are diverting. Whats important is that without doubles, we can't contend in TC, UC and SC. Plus we will continue staying weak in 3 events.

Saina is more popular than Prakash in only that type of crowd where Sania is more popular than Ramanathan Krishnan. For the regular badminton crowd, PP will stay the boss until SN doesn't out achieve him.

Having said that. Given a choice between an Indian version of Zhao Yunlei or a LXR, I would choose the former. 2 medals > 1 medal.

    No, and just no.
But again, it's very obvious that you don't like SN very much.

    Isn't it?
Padma freaking Bhushan at 24 for an Olympic Bronze? Lol. Be paitent, kid. Your time will come. Wait till your 30s and 40s like the rest. SRT, LP, PG, VA, PA, MCMK all had to wait. And till then all had better resumes than SN.

In what universe does 1B = 1B+1S + 1 WC Gold??? Only her Jat buddhi knows.

I was similarly pissed with JG after 2012 Olympics when she left VD and AP, broke PG/PS team and went to shoot Gunde Jariya whateveritwascalled...... But time is a great healer.

I am a SN fan. You have my word for it. That doesn't mean I will let her go easy when she makes a public joke of herself and our 3rd highest national honour.

She never said Sushil shouldn't win it. She behaved immaturely, but you are making too big an issue out of that. What she did was basically ask for the criteria, she did not ask for the award.
