Is new World Record Smash Already broken In TC

the picture shows 339km/h. if this is true, then LD would be the new record holder. there is no confirmation yet.
i heard that the commentator did admit that it was his mistake and was indeed 239km/h. so... we'll have to wait and see.

the commentator (Gillian) hv checked with the person whom are monitoring the shuttle speed and i heard that it is 239km/h, not 339km/h...
mistake in entering the figures...

During the MD matches, I had repeatedly monitored the "big plasma" that was showing the speed of the shuttle... NEVER had I seen any 300++km/h... so, NO ONE had broken the record... FHF still holds the record, i believe so...

it's not an official BWF but taken as the world record by the Guiness Book of Records. depends how you define 'official' I suppose.

Is it really in Guiness? I highly doubt it because Guiness asks for reproducible results, with their officials present. Or else any car manufacturer can say "O my car goes to 270mph in our lab! No problem!!"

I think it is official made under guiness controlled and repeated.. But the way of measurment was very different.. in the Yonex test they use a highspeed camera and then calculates the initial speed of the millseconds when the shuttle leaves the stringbed.

the BWF records (332 km/h and the ones you see on TV during thomas cup are radar speeds much like when you measuer tennis serves etc. with a radar gun.. so the speeds are not really comparable.

The Yonex speed is quite uninteresting as there are no other similar speed tests to compare it to..

Its like introducing a new car telling everyone it does 0-3mph in 0,1 seconds.. this accelleration figure is quite menaingless if every other car maker uses 0-60mph as measurment..

Guiness does not have representatives present at all records, but will outline the controls & recordings of events in order that they are ratified against their own criteria.

On the subject of a controlled environment (ie not a competitive match) I believe Simon Archers record (264kph) was done under controlled conditions.

u have a point there...

from thomas cup 2010...

I would say... on average players' smashes are around
woman single 220kmh
women double 250kmph
men single 260kmph
men doubles 280kmph

Taufik men single record of 318kpmh & Fu Hai Feng 332kmph are very rare...

318kmh?When does this happend?I only remember the 305kmh..

As far as I can recall, none of the smashes displayed came remotely close 300 kph at this TC/UC. 280+ kph was the top end for men's. I think 240+ kph for women's.
