I think he should have aimed along the line at JR's backhand in this situation...
-> closing the angle and making much more difficult to defend. (it's very difficult to defend on your body when you're on the ground!)

Choong has had a lot of knee problems. Perhaps he's been taught not to dive that for fear of aggravating the injury.

    x-court drop to lars forehand.

lars stood further back than normal to cover the whole court while jr is on the ground - either that or a drive/smash aimed at the back of the court instead of so steep..

but, in the heat of the moment, it's about instinct - if anybody at the top thought that hard about the next shot the birdie would have hit the floor long before...

other interesting thing about that dive is that it was probably jr's to cover, since he was already at the front and i would guess (from where the net return was played) that jr had played a net return / push or mebe lars had played a drop, even so jr is at the front and had backed off a bit to get the x-court drive.

neway - nice dive jr :)

That shot was more than 100% commitment.. the shuttles went so far back and Jr fly like a superman to return it. what a shot. Actually Paaske did a great job defending the chinese returns after Jr's dive. What a teamwork. Really kept their cool and steadiness even at a pressure point 15-16. The chinese was really stunned.

    Thank you again!!

Thank you for your kind comments!!

I was amazed to see that it was really me who made that dive.

My national coach Steen Pedersen told the danish media that I made a goalkeepers save like Peter Schmeichel.

My deepest thank again you guys!!

For thos of you that don´t know where the clip is from. It´s from the Thmoas cup final 2004 against chinese Cai Yun and Fu Haifeng. The score is 16-15 to Cai and Fu so they have setpoint. In the teammatch it´s 1-0 to China thanks to Lin Dan who beat Peter Gade in straight sets.

This point really turned the match around.

    Kind Regards

    JR
