In yet to be picked up news by the international media (afaik), Jonas Rasmussen's retirement from international badminton has been announced.
He himself had hoped to play one more year with his partner Mads Conrad but the federation had different ideas with the 2014 World Championship being held in Denmark. Focus on the future (2014 & 2016) Conrad has been partnered with Rasmus Bonde.
But with Christinna Pedersen having an operation after the Olympics, JR was offered to partner Joachim Fischer for the final few Super Series of 2012 to keep up the latter's form. "Unfortunately" CP made a quicker than expected recovery and the Fischer/Rasmussen partnership only lasted one tournament, the Denmark Open at home.
So with no long-term prospects internationally the time has come to say farewell ...

A farewell event/tribute will be held at the Copenhagen Masters as well but no chance to make a real final goodbye in a proper tournament.

Denmark Open 2004
