but I trust they are just conserving their ability as they already qualified to QF

they were testing the koreans as koo/tan already make to QF so no need to play so tough... better save breathe for QF when they up against more dangerous than Chung/Lee and Fu/Cai, the thais pair Issara/Maneepong...

nah, i think they played their best against JJS/LYD.

somebody who watched the game said they tried really hard but still end up losing.

As much as I want to believe Koo/Tan just conserving energy during their match against CJS/LYD, technically the Korean pairs were better (duh!)...so probably it would be no different were they played their best in the match.

I hope Koo/Tan wont make light of the Thais in the next match.

i watched it. couldn't stand it in the end. i have seen them play much harder and better. mostly just defend and lift all the way. no power and effort in attack either.

but as you said, people expect them to lose anyway.

Even if KKK/TBH tried to win they would probably just tire themselves out in the process and might even lose, and they probably thought Bona/Ahsan and Thai pair are equally strong anyway. So why bother to try hard to win?

    I dont believe this.

Why would they not try? What is their reason? They owned the other two pairs in their pool, but lose to JJS/LYD because JJS/LYD is BETTER. Don't make excuses for them.

They have no reason to lose. Now that they're up against the strong Thai and Cai/Fu, they'll lose anyway

If they were smart they would try to win that game and stay in the bottom half of the draw, THEN they might have a chance to reach the final. Now it looks like they'll have to play Thai, China and even JJS/LYD IF they manage to get into the final

Can't agree more! Although the thai pair has a lower ranking compared to the Indonesians, personally I feel they are more dangerous opponents with their explosive/aggressive attacking play. KKK/TBH may not have an edge over them. Even if they get past the thai pair, CY/FHF is an major hurdle to cross.. Hence, it may not be a bad thing to top their group..

The BCers who said they lose to JJS/LYD to conserve energy are probably in DENIAL about the fact KKK/TBH are no longer one of the top pairs in the world for the past 2-3 years and they won't be anymore judging how other pairs have improved and studied KKK/TBH game.

The title of this thread just explains it all.

koo and tan are still firmly a top 8 pairing IMO.

but let's face it, there is a clear gulf in class between them and the koreans at the moment (and they have some kind of wierd fundamental match up problem with Koo and Yoo!!)
