LCW struggled to stay calm against LHI. Particularly in the 2nd set. He stay cool to find his touch in the 3rd game to win. Bravo! He had a tough fight so he his mentally more prepare than LD. That's good! GO GO GO Chong Wei!

    Medalist for Olympic 2008

It is sad to watched that game lastnight.
But we should be proud for a silver medal gained in Olympic 2008.
Every players, there is up & down even we as professional, advance, average or beginner player.
Do not over pressure a player even the result is not as expected.
    Happy Badminton.

Yes we should be proud of the silver medal. I didn't expect LCW to get to the finals anyway. =)

Im Singaporean, but moved to Canada, but i still love the way LCW plays, except that last night he got too nervous and LD took advantage of that. LD is a great player, but LCW is too. Silver Medal ftw.

It's really sad to see his face during the victory ceremony, and also the face he had during the second game (when Lin Dan has caught up to 18 or 19 points), it really looks like Lee Hyun Il's face during the bronze-medal match (also during last game)... But anyway... Lin was too good a player yesterday, with the shocking speed and skills and all that... No doubt that Lin desreves what he gets, and Chong Wei, hope to see them meet again during the upcoming Super Series...

agree. And it is a home advantage at the same time. He could have trained in that gymnasium and he is so used to the direction of the wind. (the aircond) moreover, he is mentally strong and he knows CW's game well. I dont doubt his win but CW is a lil nervous, maybe because of the pressure but he said he is not gonna use that as an excuse. We still have to credit him for the silver medal no matter what. Proud of you as our national player CW!!

with the pressure on LCW, and the constant yelling from the chinese fans, plus playing in front of thousands of chinese supporters going for dan, what do you expect >.<
when LCW beat him in the thomas cup earlier, LCW was more comfortable with the venue cuz most indos were going for him.

lee chong wei to marry in two years time!!!!:)

CHONG WEI TO MARRY IN TWO YEARS' TIME

[IMG] Bernama - Tuesday, August 19KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 18 (Bernama) -- Fresh from his silver medal effort at the Beijing Olympics, national shuttler Lee Chong Wei has indicated that he may end his bachelorhood in two years' time.

    [IMG] [IMG]
"I plan to get married after the Guangzhou Asian Games in 2010," he told reporters on arrival at the KL International Airport in Sepang today.
Asked who would be his bride, Chong Wei, 26, who hails from Bukit Mertajam, Penang, said: "It is a difficult question to answer."
Chong Wei, who is the world number two player, has been linked with Malaysian woman top seed shuttler Wong Mew Choo, 25, who made her exit in the quarter-finals of the Beijing Olympics.
On his defeat, Chong Wei said Lin Dan, who is world number one, gave an extraordinary performance.

"I was not nervous but rather amazed at his stunning performance. It was beyond my expectation.
"I had faced him several times before. I know his game well but last night he displayed an extraordinary performance. I did not expect that. It was his best performance ever," he said. Chong Wei had beaten Lin Dan in straight sets in the Thomas Cup semi-finals in Jakarta in May.
Chong Wei said he lost concentration as Lin Dan played an aggressive and fast-paced game to thrash him 21-12, 21-8 in 39 minutes at the Beijing's University of Technology Gymnasium.
He said the defeat spurred him to train harder for the World Badminton Championship next year, Guangzhou Asian Games in 2010 and London Olympics in 2012.

National men's single coach Misbun Sidek, who admitted that he was enthralled by Lin Dan's extraordinary display, said Chong Wei had to sharpen his skills to match the world top seed.
"Lin Dan made tremendous progress physically and mentally. He is a perfect player," said Misbun.
Malaysian Badminton Association (BAM) president Datuk Mohd Nadzmi Mohd Salleh said Lin Dan took only several months to improve his game after he was beaten by Chong Wei in May. "Lin Dan was really good. I had never seen Lin Dan played like that before. The element of surprise caught us. We learned from this valuable experience," he said.

wow!! lee chong wei to receive the award tonight!!:):):)

Chong Wei to receive Olympic reward tonight

KUALA LUMPUR: The appearance of Malaysian badminton star Lee Chong Wei caused some excitement at Parliament House yesterday.
Lee paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
[IMG] Malaysian pride: Abdullah proudly looking at the Olympic silver medal won by Lee at his Parliament office. Looking on is Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ismail Sabry Yaacob. Lee met with the Prime Minister for 15 minutes Tuesday together with other members of the badminton team.
Najib told Lee that a special ceremony would be held at Lee’s home state in Penang tonight, in which he would be presented with a cheque for RM300,000 and a monthly pension of RM3,000 – for winning the nation a silver at the Beijing Olympics.
Asked what he would do with the money, Lee told reporters that he might buy a house and live there with his parents.
When teased that he could use the cash to get married, Lee coyly replied: “No, I’m still too young for that.”
