I'm guessing that a major difference would be that soccer actually gets a lot of television time in Germany, even on days when the top player is injured. In Korea, it is extremely rare to see a match on TV that doesn't have Lee Yong Dae in it. If there is no Korean playing, forget it, apart from the Korea Open. Lee Yong Dae's actual badminton matches appear a maximum of a dozen times per year. He himself makes other TV appearances as a star though, but other players are never included. Lee Hyo Jung and Lee Kyung Won were a few times right after the Beijing Olympics and Shin Baek Cheol made one mainstream TV appearance right after the Asian Games but mostly it's just Lee Yong Dae. It's almost as if his star quality is independent of his badminton results, although that might be overstating a little.Such videos show me, how popular these guys are in their mothercountries! Not sure but maybe to be compared to our soccer stars in Germany or formula1 racer...
Out in stores already? How much is it?
