What is the TV rating of this year's Indonesian Open, and Singapore Open comparing to last year? Has anyone (IBF or national associations) conducted the polls at IO, SO or MO?
Wow, the results showed majority still prefer the OSS. But like it or not, the NSS is here to stay for at least another 4 years. I guess majority votes don't win all the time. Whichever way this game is changed, Badminton is still my favourite sport. I just hope IBF won't make players wear Superman outfit to play in tournament.
superman outfit? that would be so awesome, it would add more skill to the nss, like trying to get your cape out of the way. I think if they truly want to make badminton more populer they need the nss and superman outfits.
I don't think the ratings in those countries change much. It's maybe a national passion and audiences should be strong. I just wonder with the changes, how much improved are the ratings in Europe and Americas. I would just be quite happy if we get a few extra hours of TV coverage here in NA. Not the usual 5 sec. clip in the news - and it had to be the news from the Chinese pay channel
Don't forget the ladies to wear the Wonder Woman costume, it will also improve their skills with new equipment And will surely attract greater audiences
It looks like tournaments will now on use the new point system here. Looks like i'll have to play with the new system the whole summer to get use to it
Yes, almost every player has switched to the NSS. I notice that all trainees in all the 6 courts today have switched to the NSS because their three coaches, who loved the OSS, told their charges that they had to use the NSS, else they would end up with no more students.
IBF helping to bring African Nations to Badminton Hi taneepak, Thought you might be happy to read this link http://english.people.com.cn/200606/19/eng20060619_275090.html I saw Edwin Ekering from Uganda playing at the Commonwealth Games, Melbourne 2006. Yes, I was impressed by his play. He could lead Africa into the World of Badminton. And for African ladies players, Mauritius' Karen Foo Kune could be the one to bring Africa into the World of Badminton. I was impressed by her because she could perform well even though she is of small in stature. Cheers... chris@ccc
It is encouraging to see IBF is doing something that is very positive. however this has nothing to do the 3X21.
If one day a comic outfit decide to sponsor badminton you think Punch will not make the players wear Superman costume? Don't bet on it!
Do you think it is a right way to do thing by threatening and dictating? I sincerely hope you do not encourage or support that type of mentallity and behaviour!
The coaches are just being professional-they do their job to train their charges to play the game according to the rules. If they had persisted to teach their charges to stick to the OSS, the parents of their students would go for their hide if they subsequently find out their children were ill-prepared for school tournaments that will switch to the NSS July 1. Word from the parents will spread like wild fire, and the coaches will find no more new students will come to their classes any more. As a matter of fact there has been some confusion in the switch to the NSS, with some players still serving from the right side after every service over (doubles), irrespective of the score. Some curse and swear, and still insisted on playing the OSS until end June, before the mandatory imposition of the NSS. Now, if you were a coach to players who will take part in tournaments, what would you do?
I agree that the coaches are pragmatic and professional,as I do the same, in preparing the students ready for their competition. Nothing more and nothing less than that!
Had a very satisfying match last sunday in a tournament.. 7 all score, the service changed 6 or 7 times before we scored a point to 8, and then service stalemate again... which is why I love the 3X15 system. Try getting that out of the NSS. GO OSS!!! hehe
Well you just have to follow the rules of a certain tournament or organisation. If you don't like the new scoring system. You can either choose not to join or have your own tourney. No point complaining so much about it. Just need to adapt change.
