The fact that he won the Japan open after beating a series of top players from the rest of the world, tell us that he is still in business for gold in Rio 16.
I have no concern LD lost to SWH in Korea open. To me it is the same as CL lost to THW in Japan open. It was likely planed by the team. As we have discussed previously, LD and CL try their best to avoid each other. Their internal rivalry is significant. With the decline of LCW, the most likely player that can deny CL gold medal in Rio'16 is LD. CL is not just team mate to LD anymore and he certainly is the opponent who can deny LD ultimate glory in Rio.

Watched the Japan Open final; surprised Lin Dan got to the finals the way he played. I thought the match was VA's to win but he made some stupid errors and let LD back in. Japan was a weird tournament with high ranking players booted out way too early (esp. Momota as home favourite).
The win will give his confidence a boost and put him back on the map in terms of Rio qualification; but I'm still concerned about his form and not entirely confident that he has what it takes to go far in Rio.
His loss to Son Wan-ho aggravated my fears. Regardless, happy about the 1-2 between Lin Dan and Chen Long to win back-to-back tournaments in the Japan-Korea stretch.
