There were some people speculating about how the ranking will stand after the Malaysian Open. I calculated for the top 8 players (the 9th-ranked player is a few thousand points away, and those outside the top 8 did not do particularly well anyway except for Chen Jin). This position will probably stay until the World Champs. There are several A and B grade tournaments, but I can't see any top players taking part.
1. LD 37263.16 + 3570 (MO 2nd) - 1500 (drop out) = 39333.16
2. KJ 32608.40 + 1680 (MO R16) - 1050 = 33238.4
3. PGC 29923.52 + 2940 (MO SF) - 1680 = 31183.52
4. BCL 26910.89 + 2940 (MO SF) = 29850.89 (9 events before, 10 after MO)
5. LCW 25575.32 + 4200 (MO 1st) - 540 = 29235.32
6. TH 26743.86 + 2310 (MO QF) = 29053.86 (7 events including MO)
7. CH 26250 + 2310 (MO QF) = 28560 (9 events including MO)
8. MHH 26484.2 + 2310 (MO QF) - 1680 = 27114.2
MHH is Hafiz in case you are wondering. You know the rest.
9th-placed Ng Wei can't overhaul Hafiz even if he won the MO.
I should think that nobody in 1-4 bracket wants to meet Taufik in the QF, and nobody in the 5-8 bracket wants to meet Lin Dan. But in general, I think it gets really tough in the QF no matter how the draw pans out.
