What is the difference between the 66 Fire and Fire Power?

Between the two, ZM66FP has softer feel, slightly more repulsion n less accuracy.

so i tried the 66 Fire. strung to 23/24 which is my current optimal tension.

in fact, Dink sent them to me as 66XS Control a few months ago but only managed to test it until now. I figured it is like fine wine, sit around will make it better and more refined. yeah, that's right.

quite a different string than all previous Zymax I must say. on fingers it feels rough and more bulky than ZM65 which I string rather frequently. The body is also less stiff feeling as well as opposed to ZM65 which has a more smooth texture.

hitting with it reveals a string that has a drastically different feel as well. the sound of the string is lower and drastically different response. the boom is very good and repulsive on power shots, providing good feedback. I am actually not too used to the string yet and ironically have problem with touch and control shot despite being a control oriented string.

so far so good though as I enjoyed playing with it. i will need more play time with it to make further judgement, but for now, it seems that orange is the new red.

A string as hot as new zymax took you months to string ? Really you must have been bored or no longer remained a baddy enthusiast . :) :)

Ha ha "hot as new zymax" = zymax fire!! I have only tried the 69 but will try 66 soon! too bad 67 is taking so long to break HAHA. that's the trouble with great strings.

I hereby award this Understatement of the Year.

I know we're only in May, but come on - what could possibly beat it?

Maybe its just me, but strung up Zymax 62F @24/26lbs and was a little underwhelmed after all the generous praise it got.

Had two same rackets (VTZF II) the other with previous generation Zymax 62 and was switching between them to feel if the 62F had that extra zing in it but apart from the more metallic sound (which could be from the fresher re-string), found that the 62F was a little dull compared to the old ZM 62 for me.......???
    Any thoughts...

Incidentally, the ZM62F was the Orange one and the previous gen ZM62 was Red....trust colour was not what was causing the different feel although there has been some discussion about it on other threads.

In order to truly, accurately compare strings, you would need to have the comparisons be strung at the same time by the same stringer.

If you "have to" compare old to new, let the new string settle in for a week or two and them compare.

Thanks for the comments Dink, however was just also making comparison with what I know a freshly strung ZM62 felt like each time I re-string it (by the way, I am the stringer...:D so that part of it is a constant...LOL). I understand your suggestion that the side by side comparison I did was not "proper" in that sense. Just seemed that the newly strung ZM62F did not have the snappy crackly sharp strike that I get on overhead clears, flat drives and cut smashes....

I also forgot to mention that I had previously done a ZM66FP on the same racket and quite liked it thus hoping that the ZM62F would be a step up.... I'll let the ZM62F settle over the next couple of games and see

It's good, you have minimized the variables.

Since there's no snapple, crackle and pop, maybe the ZM62F is not tight enough.

Maybe try a few pounds tighter?

Ime, it could b the harder feel of 62F that makes it duller than the old 62. Could try leaving it to settle over a wk or so as Dink mentioned. And take it frm there...

Does anyone know why MyBadmintonStore has not stocked up on 200m reels of the new Zymax strings..???

I've asked them on email, and just got the standard... "we do not have stock at the moment..."

Have been getting the individual packets but it seems a waste of strings as the last 1m just gets thrown away......

So I'm finding the 66 prety fragile. Not sure its a fair test but i've not broken 62 yet. So is the 62 special and the 66 just meh? I suppose my question is "can the 62 really be more durable than the 66?"

I had the same experience. The 62 just does not want to break, but I tore through the 66 pretty easily.

Who knows? Maybe I was hitting differently then. But it does seem weird.
